any of the original tycoon games. (Transport Tycoon Deluxe is probably the most versatile) Zoo tycoon is a pretty good one too.

How come we thought of the same thing?!
You know my friend, great minds think alike...
fools seldom differ.

anyway i'm just going to second most of the opinions. Portal is awesome, so are plants Vs Zombies and peggle.
a tycoon game or sim game. they are fairly casual, and pretty fun if you get into them.
or the sonic mega collection. who doesn't love the original 2D Sonic, before Sega brutally milked him.

My mum loves it.
Ever since buying her the first Bejeweled, my mom has been hopelessly addicted to PopCap and iWin games. Right now her favorite is Peggle Nights.

Been trying to get her to try Flowers vs. Zombies but so far it's been a no go.

Graphic Adventures don't really involve killing. So they're a good recommendation. Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Grim Fandango if you can find it.

There are 'millions' of good puzzle games on the PC. Suppose I should mention Peggle.

Viva Pinata!
I'm not joking either. If she doesn't like shotting things, maybe she can try to grow and breed Pinatas. I cleared the game in 2 days (or I got to the "last chapter of story" unlocked.
It is a fun game. I admit it.

It really is but 2 is much better. Alot of improvements were made and you won't be cursing the damn fizzlybear when he takes off without eating the last pinecone.

Baldurs Gate 2 or Icewindale 1 & 2 (just cuz BG1 is eally frickin hard comparetively)

My mom has always really liked the Myst games, no cursing, little violence, and it's puzzle solving not killing. She also liked the Legend of Kyrandia series, although getting it to work on any XP or later machine is an exercise in futility.

I want to know where they got those facts. None of my friends have time limits on their consoles, AND through the amount of games I've been playing online there are not that many girls.

As to what games you should get for your mom, I would have to be bland and like everyone else and suggest either Sims, Peggle, or Spore. She may like an RTS but I doubt it.

I always love offering Cave Story (it's free!) when people are in need of a PC game, but other than that I've got nothing.

Doesn't the 360 have the auto lockdown option for parents? I am pretty sure Fergie or one of the other Pinatas mentioned something about that.

And have you ever been in a game with a girl? When all the boys realize that she is a girl? It is a scarily stupid scene so I wouldn't be surprised if most girls don't advertise the fact they have bewbs. Make generic handles. Avoid the in game chat (or mute thier mics). Just so people won't know. You could have been gaming with tons of them and not even known :O

get her a wii or a ds and play cooking mama:p

or would spore count as a game for the pc since you don't need to kill people, and if you do you look awesomeness while doing that(if your good at creating the monsters:p)
This but Scribblenauts which is now officially awsome.

Imagine someone's mom playing TF2/Halo/generic multiplayer game, and actually beating the crap out of everyone, specifically her child.
