A game made entirely out of quick-time events?

If done well then yeah it could be a truly awesome game.

It would have to be a fairly unique game though I can't see it being more than a cult hit though. But I think we need more games that are unique and different.

Perhaps for a VERY short amount of time, like a 2 minute cut scene or during rare instances of gameplay (like a chain saw battle in Gears 2), but an entire game would be really boring.

The REAL question: How do we bring QTEs to RTS games? And yes, that was joke. Please don't answer.

Rhythm games are this. As were FMVs. To see reviews of them, Google for reviews of them and click the links, for they are not here. But one particular young man known to many here has done them, and they are quite funny.

Now go watch Zero Punctuation. For it is the best of everything.

It could work. Like if the game involved magic, to cast a certain spell that could help you out, a QTE to use it.
Kind of like the WMD's from Tom Clancy's Endwar, except it takes more than a simple order to use them...If implemented correctly, it could make a cool gameplay mechanic.

A game completely of QTE's that isn't Guitar Hero, DDR, or any of that? Meh, it wouldn't be the BEST fun I've ever had...

It depends on the nature of the QTE. If we're talking about the kinds of QTEs found in Resident Evil, then I would BURN IT. It you really want to consider Rock Band to be a game composed of QTEs, then I'm fine with it.

Maybe you would see a tactical map of he world, as the nuke travels through certain trajectory points, you would press a certain button; if you mess up the nuke would go off course.

Actually I think that's fundementally what "Rhythym based" games are.

So I think it's been done and they have "gotten away with it".

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Why did it take seven posts before this was mentioned? Have people forgotten already?

Sigh... those who forget the past really ARE doomed to repeat it.

But that's kinda like an interactive movie. This post made me think something like "Press X not to die, press A not to die, tap A not to die" the whole time without any cut scenes or plot development whatsoever. I bet Nintendo could pull it off and have it be a best-seller within 2 weeks of release. No, I would not ever imagine buying it.

I was under the impression that the WarioWare games were the ultimate in QTE technology. Disclaimer: I love (most) WarioWare games.

Hah, when I was like, 6, I had a Power Rangers game that was just an episode of the TV show with a very primitive form of quick tim events that were in beat with the action on screen. It was kind of dumb but I liked it back then.

Anyway, it's been done. :p

I think I remember this. You basically had to memorize the sequence to get through in time.

Got there before me.

I was gonna say "They already exist. And they're fun."
