We've all been there. We wait and wait for a game we think will be truly awesome to come out only to find that the developers rushed it out instead of taking a little extra time to perfect their project. So what's everyones game that could have been great but was simply rushed out.

Mine would be Alone in the Dark from a few years ago. The fire alone in that game was amazing and there seemed to be a really amazing game there. Sadly it was buried under clunky controls, bugs, and a major lack of polish.

Brink.

I'm no stranger to Splash Damage, they created one of my favorite games of all time, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and I just did the math, wrongly and with a blind eye on Quake Wars. I simply learned the hard way not to preorder a game ever again... well, maybe except for Sonic Generations :p

Oni.
Bungie's first big game since Marathon, it was going to be so awesome. Seamless integration of hand to hand combat and guns, big levels, beautiful graphics, all that good stuff.
Then they didn't quite finish it when it came out. They cut all of the multiplayer, which was one of the coolest looking things that they had. Not only that, but it seems like they forgot to populate their levels. Everything is either a corridor, a floor, or a wall. Not one bit of clutter in the whole world, apparently, everything is scrubbed clean to an eerie perfection, with nothing irregular or anything. The levels were designed by professional architects, so while they were realistically-built, they were also realistically-boring.
It was still pretty cool, but it had sooo much more potential.

The most famous rushed game of all time of course, ET for the Atari 2600, they were given a crushing deadline, and the game was made in only 8 weeks, I highly doubt extra time would have made the game "amazing" but it probably would have prevented it from becoming the most infamous game ever made

They would have to cut out the racism and blatantly wrong information though

Kotor 2. Just how much better the game would have been if Lucasarts had just let Obsidian FINISH the damn game

Dragon Age II and KOTOR 2. Both said before me, but idc, I want to say them. Also, Gran Turismo 5; the game is perfectly functional and actually extremely good, but some of the more technical aspects were left out, and are only now being rushed back in.

Xenogears. The level of narrative elements in the game is astounding, but because they got rushed by Square they essentially ended up with a second disc that was bland and uninspired anime fodder.

Extra Credits made a video solely about how bad of a game that was. Here it is: http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/call-of-juarez-the-cartel

Well going by the title I wanna say Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines but that was not about the developers rushing it out, more they were getting shut down and had to get it out before the deadline.
Seconded. Though, is still awesome, in large part due to devoted people that kept going for years after it came out, putting patches and mods to keep it working.

SiN... while there was no way it would avoided being compared unfavorably to the original Half-Life, the only thing most gamers knew about the game was that and that it was filled with game killing bugs such as a common sound card causing a crash.

I was surprised on the level of dedication this game got after it was released and the company was shut down. It's in deed another one that could have been amazing. I've always wanted another sequel to this to...but thats unlikely.

even if the game wasn't that good if it was finished sonic wouldn't have ended up 98% dead and with a very loud (by that i mean most prominent not the biggest part) whiny fan-base.

Duke Nukem Forever. If they took about 10 more years to release it, I'm sure it would be awesome.

Joke aside, I'd have to say KotOR 2. It could've been even better than the it's predecessor -a true masterpiece- but it failed in so many levels...I'm sure if Obsidian had a bit more time it wouldn't be such a mess.

Definitely Dragon Age 2.

It could have been much better if it had been in development longer. Origins and 2 had about 14 months between each other. There was no need for that.
