A game that you just can't play.

One game I can't play is Guild Wars. I don't know why, but I can barely manage to understand even the simplest aspects of that game. For some reason, it just doesn't click with me, and I feel like a complete idiot when I try to play it. Very little of that game makes any sense to me. What's really weird, though, is that this is coming from a guy who was a huge EQ-player back back in the day, I managed to figure out the Magician epic 1.0 easily enough(except for that damned Quillmane >.<), so it's not like I don't know my way around an MMO. . . even stranger, I'm DROOLING over GW2. Go figure.

I can't stand any turn-based games(with the exceptions of Golden Sun 1 & 2). The gameplay's dull, and the fact that everyone's just sort of standing around and taking turns hitting each other REALLY drives me nuts and breaks any suspension of disbelief I had. Why doesn't everyone just attack at once? Why isn't that one character healing people?! THIS ISN'T KINDERGARTEN, HE'S GOING TO DIE AND YOU'RE WAITING YOUR TURN?!!

Fable. Or pretty much anything by Molyneux, I suppose. I had the same thing with "the Movies".

Left 4 Dead 2

Normal is the new Hard, I keep getting dipshits for teammates and the AI is a cheating bastard.

Mass Effect 2

I know, I know, I get bitched at pretty much every time I mention I haven't finished the game. I loved ME1 to pieces and I heard so so much about how ME2 is better and they improved everything about the game blah blah blah... I just can't get into it. There's a huge mental barrier that I can't seem to get over. Maybe it's because I hate Miranda's voice? Maybe it's the new controls and puzzles that make it feel clunky? Or maybe it's just the knowledge that the game's going to take me on a 3-4 night binge of gaming and instant noodles and I'm just not ready for that yet.

Deadspace for me. The aiming is absolute shit. I had sensitivity at max, and it was sooooo slow. Add in small enemies that move fast and you have me rage quiting.

I guess, you were playing it on the PC, right? You might consider buying a new mouse with more surface tracking power, a new mouse pad and or turning up the mouse speed via software. Deadspace still got quite slow sensitivity for a "shooter" but I never really had any problems aiming.

OT: For me it's GTA 4, played 1-3+add-ons but after playing a few minutes 4 and trying to drive from point A to B and ending up in µ... I just couldn't go on..

Beyond Good and Evil and Deus Ex. It's not that they're bad; it's that I'm bad at them! I've reached the stealthy portion of Beyond Good and Evil, but I can't quite manage to get past 3 guards and Deus Ex, I resolved to do the stealthy way, but that very first guard keeps catching me.

"For me it has to be Dante's Inferno.
Everything just seems so wrong about it."

Such as?

And I just tried to play Alpha Protocol again after people are still calling it a good game. Its shit. I played it through the first time, and it was shit, and I tried again to see if I was missing something, and its shit. Its a third-person game and the camera doesn't even fucking work!
I have a moral obligation against mudering babies.
At least thats what i've heard.
Plus i played the demo, didn't much like it.
I haven't played it, but i have the game.

Just really doesn't appeal to me, and i can't bring myself to play it.
I have a moral obligation against murdering anyone, doesn't stop me playing games.
Christ you're awesome Woodsey!

I tried xenosaga because I really like JRPGs. I made it about ten minutes into the game and realized it was gonna be crap. two hours later the gameplay started and I took the game out and put silent hill 2 in the machine.

Alpha Protocol. The controls are shit, the plot is incoherent and I can't remember who's who or why I need to go where I go.

JPGs. Every one of them. It doesn't take more than 2 minutes on average before I sit back and ask myself "The fuck? They serious?", and another 5 to 7 before I lean back again and close the game with a flat "No, just.. no"

On another note, Bethesda's Fallout 3. To give you an idea of how tedious I found it, I actually put a "Finish Fallout 3" TODO item in my schedule.

Amnesia, the early Silent Hills, Prenumbra, things like that. Anything /really/ scary, not just "boo, shoot it" scares. I'm the same with movies.

Sandbox games like GTA, Just Cause and Saints Row only tend to hold my attention for as long as it takes me to get bored blowing stuff up. Their stories just don't grasp me. Infamous managed it though.

Any game that tries too hard to be "controversial" and "shocking". I'm looking at you in particular Postal games, but also games like Dante's Inferno which felt like it was using its shocking nature as a crutch for bad game design and writing.
