Ever see a preview for a game, and found yourself unimpressed, but, for whatever reason and however you may have, picked up the game, and actually liked it?

Duke Nukem, among some other games coming out, gave me the idea.

The trailers were pretty bad for Fallout NV... But the game wasn't as good as I thought it would be, does that count?

Crackdown. Played the demo over a friend's, wasn't that impressed by it, found it pretty boring. Played the full game, was MUCH better!

King's Bounty: The Legend, I had never even played a hex-based, turn-based strategy game before, and so I automatically though 'meh' whenever I saw it previewed. But my god is that game good, I must have racked up a hell of a lot of time on it since I got it. I am thoroughly glad I take random risks sometimes.

I must admit, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

It looked so terrible in the magazine screens.
And for some bizarre reason, I decided to buy it on impulse.

It's still one of the most amazing games ever created.

Morrowind.

It looked soooooo boring.
Toonami said it was good, but boring.

5x levels later, my Xbox died.
I looooved pretending my argonian was just a random dinosaur doing all those cool things, like meeting religious figures and raising through the ranks of Vvardenfel politics.

Just picture a velociraptor extending a hand to Vivec, going, "Pleased to meet you, I'm a Dinosaur."

When I saw some of the early buzz from Mount&Blade, I was like "dear gods, Morrowind looks sharper than this. And it seems really aimless...is there fun to be had there?"

Well, when I was giving out my 2008 Game of the Year award, guess which game took it? Not Fallout 3 (which didn't even become a game worthy of accolades until Broken Steel came out). Not Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (the best game for a console or handheld since Final Fantasy IX.) Nope. That butt-ugly but holy-crap-is-it-ever-fun masterpiece from Turkey.

Vampire: The Masquerade

Looked like complete arse. Turns out it's just the combat that is arse.

really? I thourght it set the mood perfectly, and it was that traditional fallout zoom-out while an old song plays, as for the game? well thats subjective I found it to be an improvment on the already awsome Fallout 3 in almost everyway

anyway I dont watch trailers for games (I prefer to know as little as possible) if Im going to buy a game I make sure I read up on it beforehand,(unless its a really anticipated seaquel) thats how I make buying decisions

Fallout: New Vegas suffered because of its appearence. A few visual tweak mods make an enormous difference.

Unless you did the silly thing and bought it for a console.
