I second Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, it's my go to game for when I feel like stomping some arse, that game is great at making you feel like an unstoppable death machine, plus the online is pretty fun.
I agree with the recommendations for Space Marine. Is the online still populated though?I played it a fair bit when it was first released but haven't tried it in ages.Seem to remember it being fun but pretty laggy

God Hand. You can kick your enemies in the balls or punch them into orbit. And you can customize the controller layout with different moves you get. Also, gorilla suplex, need I say more?
I'll second God Hand. Awesome game. Great soundtrack, stupid sense of humour. What's not to like?! "Dragon kick your ass into the Milky Way!..... Don't act like you don't like the ball buster!"

Prototype 1&2, you will at no point be challenged but if you just feel like messing up a city with all it's armed forces then it is pretty ideal.

Dark Sector. To call Jaden a killing machine would be a disservice. He's a killing assembly line.
Second on Prototype. Not the best game, nor the best sandbox, but Alex is a murderous metamorph with plenty of ways to indulge in carnage.

I'd have to add Just Cause 2 to this list. The first thing you do is take out a enemy communication outpost on a mountiantop. Just one man and his magic hookshot. The upgrades and stuff you can buy in this game are only somewhat useful, and totally unnecessary. No weapon upgrade makes Rico more powerful than the hookshot and his infinite supply of parachutes. He can all but fly and stick to any suface by basically teleporting to it. Jump off a building or bail out of a plane? No problem with infinite parachutes, don't want to bother with all that tedious gliding to the ground? Just hookshot the ground and pull yourself down to it. Tired of a warehouse gunfight? Hookshot your opponent to a compressed gas canister and shoot the canister, and watch as he splatters himself all over the walls, ceiling, and floor until he clears the warehouse door and rockets into the sky. Need a motorcycle? Hookshot it's driver to the ground. Do it right any you can hop on to the recently vacated seat on the fly and continue on without even slowing down. Hookshot a heavy object to a truck or helicopter and speed down a highway or into an enemy base with a wrecking ball of doom. Hookshot 2 oncoming enemy cars together and laugh when they wishbone across a bridge divider. Hookshot a motorcycle rider to a sports car going the opposite direction. Hookshot a passing helicopter to the roof of a nearby building. Fly helicopters and planes hundreds of times, but never land one...

It's the kind of game that will keep you finding new ways to destroy every single time you fire it up.

Yup, definitely WH40k: Space Marine.
There aren't many games out there which feel so satisfying in gameplay/combat.
It really portrays the sensation of being a superhuman covered in ceramit-armor.
Also the lack of chest high covers is quite refreshing in the third person market.
Plus it`s cheap ; )

Saints Row 4, there is even an iron man suit knock off. The only time it is not a curb stomp battle is the very last mission.

I'll add my voice to those saying Vanquish. Although play on normal at the most - the higher difficulties are insane. But the lower levels are crazy fun, sliding around shooting up evil robots never gets old.

Infamous 2 as well. You don't start out particularly powerful, but by the end you are almost at demi-god levels of power. Plus wacking thugs with a electrically charged cattle-prod is one of life's true delights.

I've never felt like more of an ass-stomper then I did while playing the original Yakuza. The rest of the series is probably the same way, but I haven't played them so I can't vouch.

Exterminatus is still pretty populated, I'm not sure about the versus mode but I think you can still get games fairly easily. It does suffer from lag quite badly at times depending on who's hosting the game and whether or not it feels like switching the host to someone with a more capable upload speed, I seem to get pretty lucky though.

As serious as the stakes may be, as much as all the NPCs go on about how the "odds are stacked against you"...you fire up the repulsors one more time and just ream the badguys a new orifice.

THAT'S the game I want to play.

Does such a wonderment of gameplay exist (ideally for PC or Xbox 360)?
Oh. Oh... OH! I think I know EXACTLY what you're looking for! That is... if you're SERIOUS!

Someone already brought up the DMC games.

So i'll throw in Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and this video showing an example of what you do to things that get in your way.
Spoiler: You split em wide open, big or small.

My recommendations:

Prototype: saying your character is broken would be a mild understatement

Character action games such as devil may cry 3-4, bayonetta, wonderful 101, Metal gear revengance they admitidly rely more on your skill, but if you learn fast you can dominate and truly feel like a badass (and deserve to feel that way too :p )
Actually with Prototype (at least the first one) I felt it arbitrarily amped up the difficulty to stupid levels, like getting ragdoll'd by rockets and all the stuff than gets you knocked back, even with Armor.

Not sure if i'll get flamed but The Force Unleashed on Easy is glorious. THAT is how a Star Wars game should feel. Nothing can stop you. Throwing people around, throwing tie fighters etc.

-Crackdown you start off kinda weak but you can level up decently quite quick, then the ass kicking begins while getting MORE powerful.

-I havn't played it yet bur saints row 4 is supposed to be very much crackdown with MORE powers.

-The darkness 2 you pretty much start with flayling tenticles right out of the gate and can romp through on normal.

- I havn't played this either but the new shadow warrior gives you a sword right off the bat to lay waste to hundreds of goons/ demons.

Thats just off the top of my head :)
I haven't played Darkness 2 but apparently it's miles better than the original which I loved and is awesome. Crackdown is just simply awesome.

There's always Painkiller. It's an FPS where they throw wave-after-wave of enemies at you and your starter weapon is basically a garbage disposal on a stick.
