Fool Moon by Jim Butcher. It's his second book in his Dresden Files series and it's even better then the first. I'm already knee deep in the third book, Grave Peril. If you like fiction, fantasy, or detective novels, I highly suggest reading these.

well i think the best reads as of late are the Grey Knights Omnibus and the Ultramarines Omnibus. both great and filled with combat, plot twists and adventure in a dystopian future.
honestly i like the 40k universe just like i like the Mass Effect universe. why? because they're both in rather plausible futures.

The Night Angel trilogy. It's magic assassins. Cool action scenes, good story, one of the most well developed characters I've ever read, and the best sense of dark humor I've ever read in a book.
Just read the first four HGTTG books in the trilogy. I'm not sure if I'm gonna read the fifth; I heard it was a pretty big downer. However, right now I'm about 1/4 of the way through 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (the new translation; if there's anything I've learned about literature, if at all possible, avoid translations done during the Victorian era). It's very interesting so far.
Well, I've just read a book about genocide in Bosnia, and a book called Chaos Theory by a guy whose name I forgot. It was pretty good.
I'd have to say the best book I've read was 2666 by Roberto Balano.

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. Some books have one twist. Invisible Monsters has about five of them. It's a mind-blowing read.
I was about to suggest the Sword of Truth series. Looking back upon it though, I really don't think that the series was much more than a strawman for Terry Goodkind to espouse his ethical egoism politics.
