Bitten by Kelly Armstrong - My favorite book. It is a werewolf book and the one of the best I have ever read.
Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause - SO much better then the movie. Another werewolf book but it is so good. If you watched the movie, I suggest you read the book because it is a million times better.
House of Night series by PC Cast and Kristin Cast - It is about a vampire boarding school. It is actually pretty good. A lot better then Meyer's vampires.
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card - My 9th grade science teacher told me about this book and I loved it.

Monster hunter International it has the same feel as a good monster movie and interesting characters. although i found the foreshadowing a little too see-threw it's worth a read you can even find the first chapter online for free from the author.

I read a small novel today 'Montana 1948' and I must say- I thoroughly enjoyed it, each sentence became a poem in itself. It was based in 1948, In a small town called Montana about a young boy who loses his innocence to the world, He becomes aware of life and death, sex and violence in a world of racism and sexism. A good read. Any books you enjoy reading?
Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo. Excellent book.

Also Sabriel by Garth Nix is worth a look ^^
Agreed. My user name ring any bells?

Anyway, I really like the Honor Harrington series by David Weber, good Sci-fi.

Also, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I had to read it for school but it ended up being surprisingly good. Amazingly interesting to try to figure out the plot, because it takes place in a very weird society and the narrator takes it for granted that you know how it works, leading to slow, powerful reveals.

"The name of the wind" by Patrick Rothfuss; best fantasy story I've read in ages, annoyingly the sequel isn't out till April 2010
Thanks for the info on the date... but damn that's annoying! I read it in two nights >.>

It's an amazing, brilliant book, and feels way shorter than it looks.

Atlas Shrugged is a fantastic book, particularly if you already have capitalist leanings. I'm not going to go on about how wonderful it is, but it'll either make you feel much better or much worse about the current economic climate. I felt worse, but hopeful all the same.

On a less intellectual note... The Dresden Files series. Storm Front's the first one. It's a great series, with tall, dark and handsome good guys, suitably evil bad guys, and (thank God) the vampires don't sparkle.

Favorite book of all time:

Cursor's Fury by Jim Butcher, part 3 of the Codex Alera series, which is coincidentally also my favorite series with Butcher's Dresden Files a close runner up.
Damn you! I was too skint to buy it, only had enough for Academ's Fury. Is it much better than that one? Can't wait to get my grubby paws on it.

All of the Sharpe novels by Bernard Cornwell. Or the Gaunts Ghosts books by Dan Abnett. Or the Flashman books.

Probably not the most high brow stuff around, but they're all ripping good reads :D

Fahrenheit 451. 'Nuff said.
Ummm no, what is it about
Seriously? You've never even heard of it? Holy fuck.

Go to your library and check it out. Won't take you more than a few hours to read at most. It's by Ray Bradbury.

My new favorite series of books is the Night Angel Trilogy, and all three just came out very close to each other, so there is no waiting, although there will probably be more involving that universe. If you want a nice fantasy read with very visceral action. First book is the Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks if you want to pick it up.

Academ's and Furies of Calderon are the worst books of the series thus far :p

I can see where my alcohol money is going this week.... Oh well, my liver thanks you.

I'm worryingly excited about reading them now, dammit. As in, I can't help grinning. If they're better than the Dresden Files..... woooooo! *happy dance*

All I shall say on the subject is that wind crafters are capable of making a gigantic magnifying glass and focusing it wherever they want. This comes in quite handy against 60,000 Canim.
