Whenever I am having computer problems, I'm always left scrambling about the internet, trying to find a computer forum that might be able to help me, tho it always seems surprisingly difficult. Do any of you have a particular website you go to for computer help?

EDIT: heres what i need help with, if any of you care to know:
I got a new computer for christmas (HP Pavilion p6214y PC, running Windows 7 64bit). I've been trying to connect the computer to the wireless router via a wired connection, tho without any luck so far. the network says "Unidentified network". when i try Windows Network Diagnostics, it tells me ""Local Area Connection" doesn'thave a valid IP configuration". when connecting another computer to the same ethernet cord, it works. when connecting the new computer directly to the modem, the computer gets internet.
some of what i believe i have tried,(some of which was suggested to me at some point):
-disable (TCP/IPv6) on Local Area Connection
disable (TCP/IPv6), Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver, and Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder, on Local Area Connection.
-tried setting dozens of different static IPs on Local Area Connection->(TCP/IPv4).
-repeatedly tried setting Local Area Connection->configure->Advanced->Network Address using multiple different random 12 alphanumeric characters
-bought a newer wireless router
-tried updating network adapter
-tried updating operating system with Windows Update
-tried updating firmware on new router
-tried looking thru my routers settings (one interesting thing i did find there was that, at some times yesterday, when i was messing with different settings and static IP's, the DHCP Client Table would list my new computer on it, tho its Expires Time was always counting down from 60 seconds my Cisco Network Magic on this laptop also detected the new computer on the network for short moments. these tied in with some other stuff make me believe the internet may work for a split second whenever the network adapter is disable/reenabled)

and probably some other stuff,
any ideas? :\
if there is any other info/screenshots i should provide, tell me

I find that petril.il isnt bad - but I usually use the manufacturers site and my trial and error to fix it - so Microsoft Technet in this case. Also TechRepublic is helpful at times

But usually, dont need them *much* since I know enough to get by with 90% of problems

... I must get aquainted with the computer help

http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/index.php

helped me with every single problem I ever had. Also, it's more than just a tech support forum, there are some other helpful threads over there, worth checking out.
