I haven't tried the F2P model that Turbine developed for DDO (as I'm playing on the European servers and some difficulties or whatnot have prevented us from getting it), but to me it's an awesome game.

You won't have access to everything at first, but you'll get rewards for reaching some milestones and whatnot which you can then use to buy new stuff (as in another class, another race, another adventure pack), or you can just buy everything individually if you don't want to go through all the hassle of earning it (apparently very hard work).

I can't really tell you much more as I don't know anything about pricing or stuff like that (no Turbine Store in the DDO in Europe, so no experience with it), but you can most likely ask around on the forums, or find the info on the site.

P2P is usually peer-to-peer, so could everyone please stop abbreviating everything they possibly can?
People are inherently lazy, so I doubt it. :)

As for me, I'm a born and bred Runescape nub, so my opinion would be invalidated pretty quickly.

A GOOD, FREE mmo? well i suppose you could try Dungeons and dragons online. or perhaps runes of magic. A third might be Chronicles of Spellborn. (i really have no idea how good any of them are)

if you want to try a P2P game you can always try EVE it seems pretty good

EDIT: Runes of Magic seems ok. ive heard its a bit like WoW. But Im probably not the best source of info.
If EVE is that space exploration MMO.. DO not play! You'll be bored to tears... Yahtzee wasn't kidding when he was stating how boring that game was

Um.....MapleStory? Nah, nah, I can't do that to you.

I can give a few games to avoid anyways. Maplestory is the most boring game I have ever played.

Dead Frontier was actually pretty good, killing zombies and whatnot. It's pretty techinical though, so don't expect to get much out of it until you wrap your head around all of it.

The only F2P MMOs I know that I enjoyed (even if only to a certain extent) are:

1) Dungeons and Dragons Online - Paying makes it better, but you can log on for like 30 minutes and then just leave it after doing a quest or two.

2) Billy V.S Snakeman - When I joined up I thought it would just be the average browser game, but I really enjoy it.

3) Anarchy Online - It was good for the first 80 levels or so, but beyond that you have to start paying if you want to level. I didn't play too often, but it was fun until I got bored of doing the same area over and over again (despite the size of the worlds in AO, there were very few reliable areas or reliable ways to gain XP).

There is a demo of Champions Online on Steam for download, but it's a bit limited (you get the tutorial which gets you to about Level 7). Although you at least get access to the character creator.

I think the phrase "Good free to play MMO" is found in dictionaries under the term "Oxymoron"...

I've never gotten too into MMOs myself, but a friend of mine who just moved home is trying to get me into Dofus...You can play for free but apparently it's pretty shitty compared to having a pay account.

I think she said she only pays $6.90 a month though, I'm not sure what the going rate is for most MMOs but it doesn't sound too bad to me..
