I am bored out of my mind with a laptop with a 1.6 GHz processor and a crappy NVIDIA Ion graphics card. Anyone know a good free MMORPG that this p.o.s. can run? (If you say Maplestory, I will stomp on your face.)

There are no good free MMO's. Believe me, I've looked. The closest thing you're going to find is Runescape.

I actually got back into Runescape in the past month. It is SO much different now, graphically and otherwise. Anti-aliasing, greater detail, all that good stuff. They also added this brand new region called "Daemonheim" that is available to members and non-members. It's pretty much a randomizing dungeon that you can do with a team that gets progressively more difficult.

Their are a few good one's but be prepared to grind a LOT.

Maplestory is a really fun one, it starts off bloody brilliant and has a nice cartoony charm. Then suddenly the exp requirement spikes and you're spending hours grinding the same enemy just to get from 10 to 11, and continuing to grind those enemies up until lvl 20.

It's a nice game but save it for low-thought sessions where you can just space out listening to bouncy music and killing mushrooms.

If there's any consolation though it has been improved a lot recently. I jumped on a few days ago and there was a ton more quests, slightly faster leveling and a bit more enemy variety, so maybe you'll have something to do after all.

MapleStory is okay, just avoid jobs where you basically need to pay money to get the most out of your skills (looking at you Evan/Dual Blade).

I actually quit a while ago because it gets boring fast if you have no friends.

Anarchy Online. You get the MAIN game and the first Expansion for free. It has been going for I think 7 or 8 years.

Runescape, MapleStory, Perfect World. Take your pick they are the best. Runescape is best free browser based. Maplestory, fun 2d, easy to learn and constantly updates. Perfect World, basically WoW, but more fun, based loosely off of chinese mythology and smaller than WoW.

Didn't Runescape remove the wilderness now?
Yes and no, they got rid of the old original wilderness, but there are now two new types of pvp:
1. You have the "Bounty Hunter" worlds where you can only fight in the wild, and the level vs. level system is the same.
2. You have a"PvP" world where everywhere but the bank is dangerous and you are givin a level range on which you can attack other people.
