Er...you mean a good game adaptation of a film, or a good film adaptation of a game?

In either case, it seems unlikely for a while. Game adaptations of films seem more often than not to be an attempt to expand the franchise a bit by the studios. You know, make a quick buck as a tie-in. A legit business strategy, but I don't see it producing great art anytime soon.

As for movie adaptations of games, I think the track record speaks for itself. Even discounting Uwe Boll's pathetic attempts at movie-izing games, there haven't (to my memory, anyway) been any particularly great games-turned-movies, and I doubt it'll change anytime soon.

It doesn't really matter how good a film-adaption of a video game ever gets, just the fact that they are doing a Shadow of the Colossus movie will never excuse them! EVER!

I would say if that has to happen (which I doubt after Halo, MGS, and Castlevania were all canned), I then I hope it has minimal dialogue like the game.

That, I would watch, then again, the joy from SotC came from figuring out how to fell each and every one, they were bastards, you wouldn't get the same feeling watching a film go through it, honestly, I'd watch it but wouldn't expect great things.

I liked the Resident Evil movies (Well, i liked the second one, the other two were just okay). Many people seem to disagree with me on that, but whatevs.

All the hopes for a good film adaptation of a video game have been crushed for me by Uwe Boll directing his massive shit-stoppers and i've had low hopes for good video-game inspired movies ever since Mortal Kombat Annihilation.

hasn't one that's come out yet.

although out of boredom I came up with a detailed plot synopsis for a half-Life film, and I would totally go see it

Uh... Pixar did an entire relationship in 10 minutes and brought a good portion of the audience to tears. "UP"

Get the guy who did Moon and give him the cash of Cameron and you'd probably have yourself something truly as epic and as awesome as the game.

I agree. They were quite good. I haven't watched all of them though... is it worth it?

Game-to-film: only ones I've seen that aren't complete crap were Resident Evil 1&2 (although 2 loses points for
making Nemesis turn good

The Mass Effect movie should be interesting, and by that I mean bad.

You can't take a game based on choices and attempt to make a film based around the 30 minute main storyline.

If pixar were doing it, there would be hope.

No amount of money will turn a hack into an artist.
I don't know about that. Some people were right hacks until they got money. Think of Shane West. He was the director of shitty music videos

Until someone gave him some money and a so bad it's good script.
That's right, a hack director of sh*tty MV's created one of the most memorable action flicks of modern cinema. It's so over the top and goofy that it becomes art.

I second this. As far as I'm concerned, the Resident Evil movies (particularly the first one, but I enjoyed the second as well - the third was pushing it) are the best game-to-movie adaptions out there. They aren't great, but I have a hard time seeing an adaption getting any better.

In the first case, we have Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.

In the second, we have Mortal Kombat.

I have to say I loved the film adaptations of both Mortal Kombat (the first one) and Postal.

*Uwe Boll gets shot in the balls* I hate video games.... *dies*

Good movie that, Postal.

If so when will it begin? Prince of Persia or much later?
Err do you mean movie to game or game to movie?

BEcause prince of persia as we all know has already gone through 3 incarnations as a game.
