I'm looking for a RPG to play, it can be old or new, offline or online. What would you recommend? ALso no need to mention WOW. I've never really been big on RPGs but now I'm looking to get into them for a different gaming experience. So it is a bit broad but just recommend any sort of RPG you thought was good. I guess shooting orientated.

Platform is PC.

It would be much easier if you told us what RPGs you have already played/owned.

Also what "kind" of RPG do you want?

That's rather.. broad. Just "a" RPG..

Any particular interests? Fantasy? Space? Shooty stuff? Talky stuff? Kill-everything-in-sight-for-loot-and-xp?

This basically ranges from Baldur's Gate, Nox, Diablo to the very recent Mass Effect 2..

You didn't give me anything to go off of, so here are some random suggestions:
Persona 4
Persona 3 (PSP version if you can)
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
I've heard great things about the Digital Devil Saga
Odin Sphere (It is more a beat'em up. But it is classified as an Action-RPG for some reason. So there)
This gen:
Dragon Age: Origins
Oblivion (Kind of leaning toward action adventure)
Fallout: New Vegas
Tales of Vesperia
Demon's Souls

I'm new th this genre of games so I don't really know but I guess the shoot-kill-loot-upgrade type? But as I said just what would you recommend as a good RPG you enjoyed? thanks

There are tons I could suggest, but without any hint on type of RPG, system, age, etc it's a little hard to know where to begin.

To randomly add some of my favourites to those already suggested,

- Xenogears
- Star Ocean 2
- Shadow hearts
- Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (for the love of god, patch it first!)
- Final Fantasy Tactics (not advance)
- Planescape: Torment
- System Shock 2
- The Witcher 2
- Mario RPG
- Breath of Fire 2 and 3

just off the top of my head...

SNES:
Earthbound
Seiken Densetsu 3
Crono Trigger

DS:
The World Ends With you
Radiant Historia (it's not perfect, but it's pretty good.)
Etrian odyssey.

STEAM:
The "breath of death" and "cthulu saves the world" double pack. It's cheap and good.

that sounds like either borderlands or mass effect 1 would be what your looking for.

Fallout: New Vegas has shooting, killing, looting and upgrading.

It also has a good storyline, interesting characters with lots of backstory, an improved dialogue system (compared to F3), much more choice when it comes to the main quest, side missions and faction allegiance.

Also the perks have been improved, traits were added, the character you play as has a very clean slate that can be filled in quite nicely and the DLCs all add more areas that include more great storylines, characters and they are all connected to each other.

Well, I suppose the Diablo series are the just that. Doesn't "bore" you with a story all that much. It has you kill things, kill more things and grab loot. Dungeon Siege series fit into that category, along with every other "Hack and Slash" RPG out there..

What else do we have? Torchlight? Titan Quest? Hellgate London if that still exists.. I haven't played that many HnS after Diablo 2 and Dungeon Siege 2..

Some RPGs I enjoyed a lot were the Baldur's Gate games and expansions, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale (these are all pretty similar). Nox is a classic. Heroes of Might and Magic series.. Fallout 1 & 2.. Morrowind and Oblivion.. Neverwinter Nights series with all their expansions.. Oof, there's a lot of things to name.

More recent games includes Mass Effect series, Fallout 3 & New Vegas, The Witcher series. There's so much out there.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Shooter oriented RPG.

It's on Steam [http://store.steampowered.com/app/2600/] and you there's a 75% reduction for this week-end. That means only 4,99? or a similiar low amount of Dollars or Yen or wherever you live.
The game is fairly old so it should work on every modern PC even on the highest graphic settings. But a lot of people still call it one of the best RPGs ever.

The Witcher 1 (GoG.com, $10)
and if you like that, The Witcher 2 (also at GoG but still new, so still full price)
--strong narrative and characters, cool alchemy/crafting systems, great gritty atmosphere

TES IV: Oblivion is a nice, easy entry into sandbox rpgs
--good character customization, nice quest variety, effective choice of combat styles, wide open world (it can get a bit samey, but it was quite an achievement for 2006)

I suppose games like the STALKER series would interest you as well? Not really all that RPG'y in the traditional sense.. Doesn't have any "levels" and "attributes", but it does have neat story and a lot of exploration for what it's worth.

Borderlands is shoot-kill-loot-level, and pretty fun. That's worth a shot (hoho).

I like my RPGs very strategic and party-based, my all time favs are:

Guild Wars(online but can easily be played solo and no subscriptions) great mechanics, good stories, awesome art design.

Final Fantasy Tactics. awesome story, awesome mechanics.
