You're right. I'm just so used to getting the bad micro-transactions that I've lost the ability to love. *cough* I've seen everything from automatic gatteling turrets to freaking air-strikes and I'm tired of it.Metalhandkerchief said:As you are obviously not well versed in MMO structure it is hard to recommend games for you. It has one of those micro-transactions things so meh...
Seeing as 70% of MMORPG games are run on a free to play business model, you limit yourself harshly by dismissing all of them without an afterthought.
The way a company expects to make money from a cash shop game should be the deciding factor in if you try it or not, not the mere presence of a cash shop. Refusal to play potential great games just on the ground of them being supported by a free to play business model does not mean you are searching for quality games, it means that you are ignorant and close minded.
Since you don't know how to tell a good free to play game from a bad, and will end up missing out on a lot of good stuff, or burning yourself on the bad, I'll at least help you out with the companies that you need to desperately avoid, and highlight some good ones:
Bad Free to play publishers:
-K2 Network (pay to win, history of corrupted GM's, hackable games)
-Frogster Interactive (extremely pay to win)
-NetDragon (extremely pay to win)
Mostly good Free to play publishers:
-gPotato (good support, vanity item cash shops)
-Atari (2moons/ Dungeons&Dragons online = well supported)
These are cases where the 3 bad will never publish a decent game and the 2 good will never publish a pay to win or poorly maintained one. In all other cases, just do some research and you'll be fine.
I don't mean to come off as angry, but you're essentially asking for help to find a good game, but aren't willing to try one. Instead you're stubbornly steering yourself towards a bad game play experience (you won't like EVE, trust me) that will leave you with a distaste for an entire genre.
You're basically saying you're looking for a girlfriend, she absolutely 100% HAS to be ginger, exactly 6 foot tall, have green eyes and be athletic. But at least you don't care if she has AIDS.
To be fair I did try AO, I just couldn't get into it because of the old clunky control scheme. As for the others... Well I don't care much for SW MMOs, but I might look into it, and the other Secret World one might be good, but I was looking for something with a better space theme. Remind me again why all the good MMOs are always still in development.
(LOL STDs ^^)
