I saw it earlier. It has one of those micro-transactions things so meh...
As you are obviously not well versed in MMO structure it is hard to recommend games for you. If lack the capacity to objectively evaluate the contents of an MMO cash shop then you should really take the time to learn.

Seeing as 70% of MMORPG games are run on a free to play business model, you limit yourself harshly by dismissing all of them without an afterthought.

The way a company expects to make money from a cash shop game should be the deciding factor in if you try it or not, not the mere presence of a cash shop. Refusal to play potential great games just on the ground of them being supported by a free to play business model does not mean you are searching for quality games, it means that you are ignorant and close minded.

Since you don't know how to tell a good free to play game from a bad, and will end up missing out on a lot of good stuff, or burning yourself on the bad, I'll at least help you out with the companies that you need to desperately avoid, and highlight some good ones:

Bad Free to play publishers:
-K2 Network (pay to win, history of corrupted GM's, hackable games)
-Frogster Interactive (extremely pay to win)
-NetDragon (extremely pay to win)

Mostly good Free to play publishers:
-gPotato (good support, vanity item cash shops)
-Atari (2moons/ Dungeons&Dragons online = well supported)

These are cases where the 3 bad will never publish a decent game and the 2 good will never publish a pay to win or poorly maintained one. In all other cases, just do some research and you'll be fine.

I don't mean to come off as angry, but you're essentially asking for help to find a good game, but aren't willing to try one. Instead you're stubbornly steering yourself towards a bad game play experience (you won't like EVE, trust me) that will leave you with a distaste for an entire genre.

You're basically saying you're looking for a girlfriend, she absolutely 100% HAS to be ginger, exactly 6 foot tall, have green eyes and be athletic. But at least you don't care if she has AIDS.
You're right. I'm just so used to getting the bad micro-transactions that I've lost the ability to love. *cough* I've seen everything from automatic gatteling turrets to freaking air-strikes and I'm tired of it.

To be fair I did try AO, I just couldn't get into it because of the old clunky control scheme. As for the others... Well I don't care much for SW MMOs, but I might look into it, and the other Secret World one might be good, but I was looking for something with a better space theme. Remind me again why all the good MMOs are always still in development.
(LOL STDs ^^)

I've only gotten into it recently (free trials ftw) and it lacks space (being more Earth-Centric) but Global Agenda is a pretty fun sci-fi MMO/FPS from what I've played. Lots of action, lots of customization, lots of ways to play - both PvE and PvP.

if you have the free time in eve you can end-up just having outer people pay by giving them in game money it takes 2-3months to do this if you find out what your doing(its supported by the company as a way to curve gold farmers and it works rather well)

EDIT: but yea eve is a nich game you eather like it or you dont
So instead of gold farmers making money the Devs promote people paying multiple subscriptions for other people to farm with. Would it be possible to start that cycle in the trial or would I need a couple months.

Screw it, I'll get an EVE trial.
as a i said before it takes about 2-3 months depending on how fast you pickup things
but yea its done on the account management page you give them in game money and it automatically adds the time to your account its a cool little system

paying with 30days i think you need to earn like 7mill a day (most people earn 20+mill an hour after 3months)- dont recommended this though becase it turns the game into a major PVE or market grindfest (eve is heavy lacking in the pve department and market you need to do number crunching)

i know someone on here will give you buddy pass(it will give you a bit more time to pick things up) because if you become a full member they get free time

I'd say wait for star wars: the old republic to come out. I saw a little of the gameplay and it looks pretty good so far

Everything that looks good isn't out yet... Gragh... I might do this, maybe. How much more time would they get me?

the only good "Sci-fi" mmo's that are already out are Planetside and Global Agenda. And they're both pretty much dead. Wait for SW:ToR.

Thussofar, it's awesome, it's easier than EVE, and not finished yet. [http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=33] It may also be free.
Yea, Infinity looks amazing. A simple combat system for those that want to shoot and make stuff go boom. While at the same time it'll have a complex trading and political element as well.

I doubt it will come out anytime soon though, took them around seven years to get to the point where they had this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7eREddMjt4&playnext_from=TL&videos=X4mQQ-dtDHA , and this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3muhlQYFgLE&playnext_from=TL&videos=hvsyyJmUAb4 .

Although they are some of the most stunning videos that I have ever seen for a sci-fi space game. The game will probably take a few more years to finish. I can only hope that the release of those videos marked that they were picking up steam in production big time.

Basically, this game is X3 times one million. And I can't wait for it.
