A good storyline in a game?

As good as I felt that game was, I have to disagree in terms of storyline. I found its attempts at storytelling too ambiguous to even be counted as a plot. Don't get me wrong, I thought it had some great moments (particularly world 1), but it seemed to resemble poetry more than an actual story.

Oh man...gaming really has provided me with some grade A entertainment over the years...there are lots more but I really cant list more.

Fable plot is preety good due to the fact you craft your own story.

The best action/adventure storyline? Jak 3.

Why? It's Jak Bobdamn 3

Storyline in gaming always seemed so subjective to me. One guy praises MGS' storyline, the other complains of it being draggy and extremely confusing. Same thing with FFX, one side would call it refreshing, the other would say that the storyline is full of loopholes.

It's an intersting topic. I think that games can approach story in different ways, because it means so many things. The Final Fantasy games may not have the tightest plots, but thematically they are extremely strong - the characters' own personal journeys are one of the most enthralling parts of the games.

I've always been interested in how storylines are worked into strategy games, because it seems like a genre where it would be difficult, and often unnecessary, but there are many examples where such games have had great stories. Command and Conquer and Dawn of War are both good, but Blizzard's games are just superb, Starcraft and Warcraft 3 especially.

Halo, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KotoR, Zelda: Wind waker, Zelda: Majoras mask, Warcraft (1-world)...

You can make those tree Bioware ones into a big "Bioware" category.

The Legacy of Kain series is definitely one that I have had trouble seeing another game/series standing up to.

Eternal Darkness is gem as well...

Grim Fandango, despite being weird, has an amazing plot. I couldn't believe how professionally it all came together, it was truly a masterpiece. You know it's a good plot when it would work in a movie or book as well.

My favorite storyline is probably Battlefield: Bad Company due to its deviation from normal war storylines and funny characters.

Comepletely agree. It's a shame how BC2 did not follow en suite.

I second this, it had so many unforseen turns that it became a very close challenger for the Bioshock Throne of "Twisted Turns You Will Never See"...though the game has glitchy achievements...damn you UBISOFT

Yeah It does, I've played it through so many times now. My achievements weren't broken either so I got mine straight away
