I don't know if that's true. I think he had the stance because he took Ivermectin when he got Covid and he recovered from Covid in only a couple days. I don't know if ivermectin really helped him that much because Rogan is in INSANE shape physically and is a health nut so his own health probably did a lot of the heavy lifting in kicking Covid. But he was very open about not only taking the drug but taking it because his doctor perscribed it. Then the media (especially CNN who hates him for some reason) dogpiled on him. To the point where he had the "Doctor" from CNN on his not eshow and he called his ass out. The doctor had no good comebacks or defense, because both Rogan and the doctor knew it was a smear campaign. Then that fucking doctor went back to CNN and they continued to talk shit about Rogan like nothing happened.
So, a friend of mine, in her 30s, is way fitter and healthier than me. Always has been. (She runs a various sporting complex, amongst other things.) Hardly touched drugs, even alcohol. She went out to a New Year's Party and is still in bed from COVID, getting pumped full of steroids. (She also not included in hospitalisation reports as she's still at home.)
Like, being healthy COULD help (even likely.) I also COULD use this anecdote saying that it's not true.
Now, the doctor thing is true. Rogan did get proscribed. From particular doctors who just give you a drug cocktail. Most doctors aren't like that so now we have people punching doctors for not proscribing Ivermectin. Because they think its ethically irresponsible to give unnecessary drugs. Others just took it from vets and self medicated.
Do I think that Rogan is as bad of an influence as Bret Weinstein? Nope. I think Bret dosing himself on camera is fucking appalling. I'm also not going to give Bret a second chance on this stuff. I AM giving Rogan a second chance. But... a second chance means there's an expectation that he's going to be more responsible. If he thinks that means he shouldn't do mainly right wing guest.... sure... at least he's attempting something even if I think that wont help
(And, Rogan on his twentieth chance by now. Because he keeps hopefully unintentionally attacking people over many years causing a lot of damage. This is just the most recent event.)
A lot of people got the vaccine and got it pretty damn quickly. At this point we are 75%ish percent fully vaccination and it has done fuck all for the spread of covid. That is what people are upset about, and why many aren't getting the vaccine. Remember when vaccination meant no more masks? Now we need even BETTER masks, AND be vaccinated. But you can still go to a restaurant and not wear a mask at the table? Because covid doesn't get you when you are eat, that's a rule.
Everything around this pandemic has been a fucking shitshow of bullshit and shitty politicians not doing their part to make people understand and curb this.
People like Rogan probably didn't help. But he is far from the only source of bullshit that has prolonged this garbage.
I don't know what to tell you, man. Wherever you got your info was completely wrong. Or more likely you read that slowing the virus (which it has done) means stopping it. Your complaining about science change its advice when new data comes in. Like... I actually don't know what to tell you expect maybe find out what science means. I would be EXTERMELY worried if advice from scientist never changed because that means they are failing.
Those people who aren't having the vaccine were never going to have the vaccine. They were told it was bad WELL before this current event. They had already made their mind up. They want a security blanket to tell them its okay and there is nothing available
As to shitty politicians, I wouldn't just blame them. There is a lot to go around. Many of them I would no longer give them a second chance like I'm giving Rogan
