Can't they do Eisenhorn or Ravenor? Heresy's cool and all..but i'd prefer actual humans to space marines. Not to mention making SM armour not look ridiculous while moving is almost impossible.

True that, both of those series would make an epic stand alone movie series, and also have to agree about making SM not look ridiculous been a good point.

How to do the ending, though...

I foresee him handing over the sword, then shooting the false emperor in the face, followed by a big 'psych!'.

Nah. As he hands over the sword it disappears. Then the Deceiver takes off his Cypher-mask and yells 'LOL u mad? U got trolled!'

And then Tzeentch takes of his Deceiver mask and and turns into a giant bird XD

Seems a bit simple for Tzeentch, no? More like...And then Alpharius takes off his Emperor mask and Malcador takes off his Alpharius mask and he is actually a quadruple-agent for the Tau and the Hive Mind turns out to be the Emperor from a parallel universe who turns out to be Tzeentch and then they all play Calvinball. And Tzeentch cheats and wins.

Well, looks like I got some reading to do.

If you like 40k, then yes, you most definitely do. Most of these books are absolutely amazing.

Meh wait till you read the First Heretic and Nemisis. Thoses would make killer films.

Agreed on Nemesis, and most likely First Heretic as well (I'm close to the end on that one, and it rocks everybody and their grandma).

That said, I believe that the Horus Heresy would be much better suited for a long, epic cartoon series... a few movies couldn't possibly do justice to all of the important characters and events that transpired during those times.
I don't think anime visual style would work here, but something like what they did with Spawn all those years ago would hit the spot for sure.
If they had a really big budget for the series, I'd make it CGI and hire the guys who did the intro video for Dawn of War II.

To be honest, they are sorta just Squid-Orks with spectacle instead of killing as their obsession.
