Inspired by the award-winning 'Human and AI are facing death' thread, comes the spiritual successor!

So picture this; you and some friends are at a shooting range having a good time when SHOCK HORROR, the clay pigeons have run out!

One of your friends remembers that for whatever reason he has a CD of The Human League's Dare album and a copy of A.I. Artificial Intelligence on DVD in his bag (maybe he was going to trade them, use your imagination).

You, being understanably upset at such a situation, loudly protest and try to get your friends to think of something else. Your friends cruelly offer a 'compromise'; they'll give a stay of execution to allow you to make your case, but you can only save one of them. The other will be destroyed no matter what.

Who do you save? If you don't pick one they both die.

If I take a shot at one and miss, do I get a shot at the other?

AI Artificial Intelligence was at one time the only DvD I owned (it came bundled with my PS2...yes I was late to the PS2 party because Dreamcast.) I think I watched it once.

Human League's Dare on the other hand is one of the best albums of the 80's imo and it has a picture of a Yorkshireman on the cover. I'd rather have it on vinyl mind, but still I'd save the CD and play 'what the feck are the lyrics on 'sound of the crowd''

I wouldn't really care either way. Both items are a mass produced product that has thousands, if not millions of copies world wide. So he can shoot whatever the hell he wants. :p

Well, we're at a shooting range. I would inform the manager of the range that this crazy bloke is about to make his life miserable by shattering multiple discs into razor sharp shrapnel. Then as the guy is carted off, I'd take his spot on the range. That'll teach him to not fire on appropriate targets, the loon.

Oh, and if possible steal both media off him as he's hauled away. Not because I like either or, but because I enjoy a chance to raise my pickpocketing skill...

Neither? (No way in hell would I be upset over this!) I haven't listen to the The Human League's Dare album and while I have seen A.I I didn't think that film was all great (stupid ending and way a go Spielberg for not making those robot at the end looking like robot as I thought they were aliens)!

Shoot them both and see who lives last... #twoenteronelives

Other than that, out of counter rage, check out that CD and DVD beforehand... Maybe they could present their case on why the other should die by shooting range...

I have never heard of Human League, whilst I've heard bad things (well, one bad thing, a line from ERB) about AI. Since I have no attachment to either, I choose to shoot the friends, since they are the only ones in the scenario I don't have a specified interest in. Are they friend friends or backup friends or pretend friends I tolerate when my actual friends aren't around and I'm bored? These are critical questions.

Meanwhile, I am clearly shocked by the loss of innocent mass produced things I've never heard of, so I must have some sort of psychic link to them, suggesting they may be potentially self-aware, and also capable of emotional projection and manipulation, and therefore I must keep them away from Hawaii, with it's volcanoes and whirlpools and pro death penalty sea lions made out of pony guns and probably shooting ranges that want these poor new possibly evil lifeforms dead. And the best way to keep them safe from Hawaii is to have no friends. Then I'll feed them to that one dude whose people must consume those endangered, to keep my multiculturalism cred up, and not just to hide evidence of a murder.

From what I've heard of it, that film sounds like the kind of treatment of AI that tends to annoy me, where the creators are "thinking big", but their idea of thinking big is to make robots into autistic metal humans like everyone else does and making that stupid idea actually central to the story instead of tangential like it is in sci-fi films that just happen to have robots in them like the Terminator franchise. So, obviously, the CD is what gets to live, Human League are pretty great.

I don't know anything about Human League, but it would have to suck pretty bad to be worse than AI.

Seriously Spielberg, Stop. STOP IT WITH THE ALIENS!!
