I was just watching T4, and an ad came up, mentioned Bieber, and I thought "Ugh, another Bieber competition" and I heard the word movie, payed attention and immediately facepalmed. What is the world coming to... =\

Edit: I just think that the movie industry should be about artistic celebration, not promoting some whiny kid who makes bad music.

And your point? He's extremely popular right now. Why do you think they released the Micheal Jackson movie last year shortly after his death? It certainly wasn't to preserve his memory. The movie industry is a buisness, they aim for the majority of a certain group with each movie they make. So we really shouldn't be surprised that they want to make a movie on him.

Just ignore it, from the looks of your post, you've already made your decision to not see it. How does its existence bother you if you've already made your decision?

Anything for a buck. There's a facebook movie, so why not a beiber movie?

Hollywood is going to hell in a handbasket because there is almost no originality in the system. There is very little influx of new people and ideas, because the system is so controlled by lawyers and accountants that new blood gets completely screwed over to the point they try somewhere else to make their movies. Texas right now is starting to build a massive movie making facility outside of the Hollywood system, but it doesn't have a lot of momentum yet.

Oh look, someone giving something they hate free publicity on The Escapist.

If Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus can get a movie, why can't Justin Beiber? Why shouldn't he get a movie? It's already been proven that for better or worse there's millions of people around the world who like watching him, and would probably like to see him in a feature-length production. Also it makes bloody good marketing sense to get him in a movie now before he gets too old and outgrows his teen appeal (as all teen stars do eventually).

The facebook movie is by the guy who did Fight Club, Zodiac and Se7en and you really should watch it, it's fucking good. The movie isn't an "endorsement" of facebook any more than "Wall Street" is an endorsement of wall street, so you can't really draw an analogy like that because the movie's purpose is not to promote Facebook, unlike a Justin Beiber movie which would primarily have the function of promoting Justin Beiber.

And so begins the hatred.

/sigh

People think it's cool to hate on a kid they have never listened to.

I hate him - but at least I've heard his stuff :p
In the past people have made me listen to his stuff. I hated every second of it, it was before I even knew who he was.

Don't worry. His trend will pass. All the pre-teen, teen trends do. ^_^

After a few years, all the girls will throw out his merchandise and longing - for someone new, or they grow up and realize their fixations were just founded on how cute they thought he was. More then a few will be embarrassed by how they acted. He'll just be a washed up nobody. Lets hope he knows when to retire and just coast with a half-way normal life, instead of Lohan'ing it or being like Danny Bonaduce and televising his overly-dramatic decline/ mid-life crisis, by drinking liquor on the side of the road shirtless. Anyone remember that? lol.

I feel sorry for the parents of all the pre-teen girls who will be dragged to see this to keep an eye on the kids.

I have all the rights in the world to hate.
I was at this LAN once, and some guy though it would be funny to put Baby on. Okay, so it was kinda funny, and we all sang along.
Then he put it on a loop. For 2 hours. It was okay for the first 45 minutes, but then I wanted to kill something. And I did, in game though.

OT:No. Just, no. No. NO. NO!

In case you missed it, the movie will also be in 3D. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with 3D but it's just another show of how utterly pointles this movie is. Apparently it's meant to be about his rise to fame which is interesting since he hasn't been famous for that long, least it'll be a short movie.

But since this will undoubtable turn into a JB hate thread I'd like to say this. Justin Bieber is not that bad of a singer. I've listened to his songs and he has talent. The hatred of JB has gotten a bit out of hand, but it is understandable. JB has talent but he's sold himself out and sings songs about shit he shouldn't even know about at his age. His lyrics are painful and his looks are committee designed.

But the biggest problem is the actual fans. THEY are the source of this obsession and THEY are the ones keeping Jb popular. Hate them.

Well, when Vanilla ice had his movie, her burned out. When the Jonas Brosthers had their movie, they burned out. We can all agree that Hannah Montanas fame has been on a slide since her movie.
Here's hoping.
Shawty Mane will live on though.

I don't dislike him because on whether or not he can sing, but more so on the fact that none of his songs change (They're all about the same thing after all.) and the fact that his voice is heavily edited. And agreed, the fans can be a rather large problem.

Whatever. I don't find his music all that bad.

Nothing's forcing me to watch or care.

Haters gonna hate.

I love the way people complain about hollywood 'going' to hell, as if it was ever about art. There are occasional eras where the more 'artisitically valid' films are made than other eras (1967-1980 springs to mind) but on the whole Hollywood has always been about making as much money as possible. If people don't like it there is a wealth of other options 'American "independent" cinema' and cinema by other nations that offer a wealth of alternitives.

As for the Justin Beiber movie I won't watch it so it doesn't really bother me, I'll carry on enjoying the wealth of cinema the world has to offer that I do enjoy.
