"Hm?"

Ellondra turned as Vik'nar held out the berries. They looked fantastic; more so because the leathery strips he compared them to had been her diet this afternoon. "You seem to be biased towards those strawberries. ...Why did you buy so many?" She peered over the mass and picked through them for blackberries. "As soon as I change my bandages, I'll be set to move on. I wondered, though, whether we ought rest or attempt to make Herelden in a straight shot." She popped the few she'd collected into her mouth and was pensive while she chewed. "...You know which decision I would make. Also, that white-haired man makes me most uncomfortable."

The Sergeant glanced across the market at the church, making a face that indicated her distaste.

"The merchant was closing up shop and it seemed a shame to let them go to waste. As for the strawberries, maybe it's a fixation of wanting something that's hard to get fresh in Herelden." He deposited a few more berries in his mouth and chewed in silence for a moment.

Swallowing and then nervously clearing his throat. "Would you like a hand with those bandages, you were all to kind to assist me before. It seems only right, in a way, to help you now. There is a small grove of trees just there if you're concerned with the modesty of it." His face reddening a bit as he pointed to the nearby gathering of willows.

"Hmmm, I think we should continue to make utmost haste to Herelden. Anyone who wishes to rest is welcome to stay behind." Dropping to a whisper in her ear to avoid having the rest overheard by those still in the market. "I'd like to get the eggs delivered and report what happened in Swaere sooner rather than later."

She confirmed his murmurs with a nod, hand resting for her own reassurance on the bag at her hip. "Let's get this taken care of, then. I'll be grateful for the assistance... I can't get it as tight as I'd like on my own."

The grove was appropriate; she would've felt rather uncomfortable being half undressed in an Elven market as an ambassador of the King. The cover of trees solved the problem nicely. Quick thinking on the Sever-Elf's part. The Sergeant shed her breastplate and chainmail shirt and wrestled with her blouse until she had both arms out of the sleeves and the hem gathered up around her shoulders. She kept her breasts bound, for obvious reasons; a fact to keep Vik'nar from looking entirely like one of the strawberries he liked so much.

With a grimace, she peeked under the existing bandages to check on her handiwork. The stitching wasn't much to look at and would certainly scar, but it wasn't infected and that was her foremost concern.

"It's all right," she said, handing him her knife and turning her back to him, "You can cut them off."

While he did as she asked, she tucked the roll of bandages under one arm to open the jar of salve, applying it with just the tiniest hiss when the cold substance hit the raw flesh. It'd benefit the healing process and numb the area, making their imminent ride that much more bearable. When she'd finished, she held her arms up out of the way and rubbed a good dose of the stuff into her bruised shoulder, which was a rather aggressive purple.

"It had occurred to me to have the mage heal my poor surgery," Ellondra spoke, filling the silence, "...Not that I'm not grateful that you have your arm's full motion back, but I would rather keep his hands off me. I doubt that we will be mistaken for his comrades, though I do fear we'll be caught in the crossfire should he--bit tighter, please--attempt to escape arrest once we arrive in the capital.

"The Professional is a drunken disaster, the Knight appears to be good-willed, though easily moved to sympathy, and Ra'ive..." she paused, thinking a moment, "Well, Ra'ive at least is proving his worth. Consistent though he is in his... recreation." She took the end of the bandage from Vik'nar once he'd finished and tucked it securely into the layers below it, sighing, "I cannot presume to know what the King plans to do with we few mismatched warriors."

"I will remove the shackles; but stray from my side, and I will end you. Is this understood?" The Death Knight said quietly, the whispering, vorpal voice ringing clearly in the Magi's mind despite the buzz of the crowd around them. From the tone of his voice, and the way his arms were crossed over his chest, the Death Knight meant every word; though any who knew Skaar knew that the Death Knight always made good on his promises. And that's what it was. Not a threat. A promise.

"I will make sure he does not flee from us." Landon said to the Death Knight.
"I am certain you are able to handle him yourself, but we never know, considering he is capable of powerful magic. Working together might not be a bad idea."
Landon held the shaft of his sheathed sword and held his shield in his left hand. His eyes bounced from the Death Knight to Evela, back and forth, slowly. He wasn't comfortable with the Death Knight's presence, but it was inevitable. He had put his helmet in his bag before they entered the town.

"I cannot presume to know what the King plans to do with we few mismatched warriors."

It seemed the only sound for a moment was the willows swaying in the breeze as Vik'nar thought over these last words. However something more immediate quickly pushed its way forward in his mind, stemming from what she had been saying just before that. He pulled slowly on her uninjured shoulder, attempting to spin her around to face him.

He spoke a little softer than normal. "Ellondra, so I'm curious what your thoughts of me are after all of this?"

As the chains loosened on Evelas arm and he got feeling back in them, he began to walk towards the church. "My eternal thanks" He said to the Death Knight.

He checked his mask when he remembered about it. Its quite difficult to know if its covering all of the scar or if it has spread or not, but he can uusally manage without any help. He feels around the mask, covering a third of his face in pure white colour, it was sculped to him by his mother, who made it fit perfectly. The mask was sitting perfectly wher eit should be. It should be covering all of the scar, unless it had grown in the week since he last checked, it should be covering it all, so he walked confidently towards the church.

"I wont escape, i just need to make some prayers towards some people who have fallen and that bear cub we saw"

Ellondra turned easily, though seemed surprised by the question.

"What do you mean?" She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, awkward, "...Of course I find you trustworthy. I'd not have given you a knife and my back just this moment if I didn't."

Skaar grunted in acknowledgement, his ragged shroud billowing out behind him as he escorted their prisoner to the church. Approaching the double-barred doors, he dipped his hand into the small chalice of holy water which was extended from the side, and made the mark of Gyia over himself. This small ritual completed, he then opened the door and strode inside. The appearance of the stranger, clad in a ragged shroud and wearing a grotesque set of skull-fashioned armor attracted more than a few suspicious glares, but he ignored them, instead kneeling down before the altar and bowing his hooded and helmed head. He murmured a prayer quietly under his breath

"Gyia guide my hand, so that it shall not falter in the end-times. Gird my soul with the armor of contempt, and furnish the sword of Hate so that I may strike down your enemies.

Through my blood, I seek redemption. I pass the judgment of the grave in your name, 'o Goddess... I beseech you to grant me the strength to endure in the face of my corruption, and allow me the chance to continue on the path to absolution...

In truth, I know not where I tread. Things used to be so simple. So easy. But now... now my path is blurred. I follow these strangers, in hopes that, by aiding them in their quest, I will progress further down the path...

Yet things have changed. Forces beyond my sight shift and turn, conspiring in the dark to overthrow the mortal realm. I know not what I can do against such a threat...

But I will follow my path, come whatever may. I will find the snake which lurks in the dark, and I will destroy it, along with any other who dare challenge your divine being. This most latest addition to our little band... can it be that he speaks the truth? That he calls out to you, and you have answered? Such a thing is heresy, yet... I need to know.

Please, Goddess... give a sign.

Vik'nar had not excepted to be put on the spot.

He stammered out in reply. "Well..I..not exactly...It's still nice to hear you say it." He smiled a lopsided grin looking at her now and finding the words. "I wasn't sure if I should be making anything of all of this." Opening his palm to gesture to their current location and pulling up his tunic to indicate where she'd bound his wounds while he was unconscious.

"But perhaps that's a discussion to save for after we're done with this quest, if you wish." Wanting to give her a possible out should he be pressing too fast.

Her brows furrowed and then what looked like a slow dawn of realization took residence on her face. It immediately flooded with color.

"I... Well, that is..." Ellondra's mouth moved, but all of the words she thought about saying had all rushed forward at once and gotten jammed in the back of her throat somewhere. "Ah." she finished clumsily, nodded, and stumbled out of the grove while wrestling back into her shirt.

A romance between herself and a comrade-in-arms? And a Sever-Elf, at that?
But, that would...
just be...
ridiculous.

...Wouldn't it?

Vik'nar stood dumbfounded for a moment, trying to make sense her reaction, before chasing after her. He did not want to leave it at just that. He reached out to gasp her retreating hand as he prepared to apologize if needed.

"Wait Ellondra. I haven't offended you, have I?"

He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, as if it was trying to push more flush to his face.

Ra'ive let his attention return to the world momentarily and was slightly surprised to see that apart from Warees, there was no-one else to be seen. He decided to take the plunge and attempt to talk to the strange man to pass the time until the others returned from wherever they scampered off to.

"So.... Warees was it? How come you decided to heed the call and accompany us? Surely a pardon does not matter to one such as yourself?" he asked as he blew another puff of smoke from his nostrils.

So where has everyone scampered off to?

"To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why I accepted this opportunity." Warees answered, placing a hand on his chin and running his fingers across his goatee, stroking the hairs as he attempted to think of a good enough explanation. After a brief moment of contemplation, he gave up, and just assumed to himself he went along with it because it sounded enjoyable at that moment in time. It seemed reasonable enough to him, after all, even he doubted that he could've done it out of the good of his heart.

"What about you? You don't exactly seem like hero material either"

"Well apart from the very large material gain there was in this, I was also promised some information" he replied thoughtfully as he ran a hand over his mask where his chin would be.

"However, if I had known it was merely for some eggs and I'd have to work with an abomination and a guard, a captain no-less! I might not have bothered and found what I seek some other way"

Why does everyone always forget Landon...? -_-
It's getting a wee tad annoying.
Landon walked inside the church with Skaar and Evelas, doing the same as the Death Knight, dipping his hand into the small chalice of holy water extended from the side and made the mark of Gyia over himself. He then stepped inside the church, watching as everyone looked at the Death Knight.

Their looks are understandable. Not many around that look like him.

He kneeled at the alter and prayed for their safe return to Herelden.

"I'm quite uncertain of how I ought to react," Ellondra slipped her hand out of his grasp, folding her arms over her chest. She blurted out her words quickly without looking him in the eye, "obviously you've mistaken my camaraderie for something else, and... And you ought to treat me as a soldier, not a blasted damsel."

She held out a hand, lowering her voice. "...Could you hand me my armor, please."

Evela walks in to church, examining the holy water. He saw the others take some of it out and wipe it over their bodys in the mark of Gyia, which Evela found funny. He did not do this step.

The monks had a completetly different style of prayer. Brother Evela walkes as close as he can get to the center and sits down, corssing his legs, closing his eyes and letting his palsm rest together at his center. He meditated for guidance from Gyia.

After 5 minutes of meditating, Evela had blocked off the outside world, his breathing and heart rate had slowed down to near death like status. This way, he was closest to Gyia and could seel guidance if he really needed it. And he did.

Oh Merceful Gyia. I have never questioned your plan before but I must ask. Is my path really lie with these travellers?

A figure appears before him, it is one of Gyia. "Yes. Like i told you last time. These people will help change the world, and you my son will help change people perspective on mages. The chosen ones. That is why i told you to learn healing and protective spells. You must be a protector."

Oh thank you kind one. I shall continue down this path ad bring glory to your name.

Eveka begins to breath more rapidly, getting his heart rate back up to normal. He stands up, stretches and smiles, "I Havent done that in a while. I feel good now. How did all of your prayers go?" He asks towards Skaar and Landon.
