Okay, it's the middle of the night, and you're about to fall into bed after alot of work/gaming/art-ing/music-ing/jerking, and about two minutes into your rest, a loud knock is heard on your door, you rush downstairs (Or to the front door) and look through the peephole. There, are standing two very stern looking soldiers, behind them, you see a convoy of trucks with civilians starting to board onto.

"You and your immediate family have been chosen by the government to live in a high security survival facility, the reason is that unidentified creatures have crawled up on the shores(or borders) of the country and are taking down entire cities, and that you've shown either excellent leadership or academic skills and have been selected as such, you may choose one family within the region to be picked up as well, assuming they haven't been chosen."
Says the first soldier. And quickly followed by the second soldier,

"You have half an hour to pack, you may only bring one backpack, or two smaller bags, please hurry. Those unchosen are being moved to refugee camps."
You stand there, confused, but feeling uneasy, you quickly contact your chosen person to let them know, then run to wake up the rest of your family and have the two soldiers explain the situation, after you've done that you run up to your room and glance at the clock. 23 minutes left. What do you pack?

Okay, probably not the best backstory but nyeh. I'd quickly run upstairs and start loading my backpack with; a small waterproof torch, an umbrella, I'd pick a shirt, a pair of pants and my jacket from my wardrobe, my family annals and other records, my art diaries, I'd cram all my stationary and my two USBs into my pencilcase and then pull together my assortment of tailoring gear and archery maintenance kit into one. I'd then run downstairs, grab some socks and undies for good measure, and then slip on my sneakers.
As for the person I choose, probably my girlfriend.

PS. Sorry if this is substandard, my first thread here, and I haven't been on a forum for a while due to various unpleasent circumstances.

EDIT: Oh right, and wallet, phone+charger and camera+charger 8D

23 minutes? Thats plenty of time to fit most of my favourite stuff into my backpack xD

fav clothes/games/laptop/mementos/ etc.

Yeah I'd just take everything I value :/ no need to pack neat, just chuck it in and sort it out later =P

my bad for not making a detailed list, I don't have that many interesting things xD It's all sentimental crap.

Can I bring my gun?

If so, I'd pick one of my handguns, probably the 1911 (because a rifle won't fit in a backpack), clothing, flashlights, fire starter, multi-tool, just basic survival stuff. I know were going to a "high security survival camp", but what if things go wrong? What if somehow the creatures somehow overtake the camp or attack the convoy on the way to the camp? Then its time to run and try to survive on your own.

As for the family I choose, my immediate family. And if there included with me, i don't really care who else.

My cane sword with hot rod flames and tons of bacon is all I need.
It's more than enough to survive.

Where can I fit my 52 inch tv?

OT: I'd just bring my pad and pen. And my "wasteland survival" clothes. I'm assuming they'd already have everything I need.

Hey, the ammo is cheap and plentiful, and it can take down small game. I don't see that as a bad thing. The only reason I would bring anything else is because I have tons more ammo/parts for my other weapons.

As for the thread, my .45 Pistol and Carbine (both made by Beretta), all the ammo I have (around 5,000 rounds), and some books. Those books would probably be practical chemistry and survival related.

laptop, clothes, my 9mm, some knives, one of my swords (fit's in my custom backpack for martial arts) phone, ds, chargers, ammo, and my pillow (I love my pillow). I'd walk out with my backback and my shotty. let them tell me I can't take my shotgun. go ahead.

I'm a homebody. I'd threaten to stab the soldiers with knives if they didn't leave my doorstep.

Actually, it wouldn't get that far. I never answer the door or the phone. They could knock all tey wanted, & I'd just put on some headphones & ignore them.

I couldn't help but laugh at that.
I second that notion.

Seriously, where's your inner paranoid maniac, people? If the government is rounding up people, chances are there's nothing good about it. I'd expect non-government affiliated news to spread pretty fast, especially if we're talking about, you know, entire cities being taken out by monsters. You'd probably hear all about it on the internet and such even before the government thinks about doing something.

On topic, if I were to go, there's practically nothing to pick up. I don't have a laptop, my current desktop is shit, and there's very little personal memorabilia I care about. Most books I wouldn't plan on re-reading any time soon, and they're a dead weight unless you're reading them, and I've got a Kobo E-reader anyways... Got no real weapons aside from tools, and you know, when you're with military you probably don't need a club or a fucking hammer. Same goes for food, I don't think a few dozen cans of tuna are going to last me that long and the army probably has their own supply arranged.

So, uh, clothing, tools, rope, and some tuna just in case.

I'd probably bring:
-Flashlight and batteries
-Cell phone and charger
-Airsoft pistol and ammo, since I don't have any other fire arm
-My Bokken
-Watch
-2 changes of shirt, pants, and underwear
-Deodorant
-My back-up pair of glasses
-And of course my Zippo lighter

Interesting scenario.
