Can I bring my gun?

If so, I'd pick one of my handguns, probably the 1911 (because a rifle won't fit in a backpack), clothing, flashlights, fire starter, multi-tool, just basic survival stuff. I know were going to a "high security survival camp", but what if things go wrong? What if somehow the creatures somehow overtake the camp or attack the convoy on the way to the camp? Then its time to run and try to survive on your own.

As for the family I choose, my immediate family. And if there included with me, i don't really care who else.
I imagine a facility like this would be stocked with guns, but sure, go ahead 8D

I'd bring my hammer. If they tried to pull any shit I'd Thor their asses. For the other family, I'm debating between a friend of mine who has a lot of guns, or Berserker the Bear.

My chosen person would be my girlfriend.

And I would pack clothes, food, laptop and my teddybear.

First thing I'd do would be to try and turn the whole situation into a knock-knock joke.

Government soldiers who?

And probably end up dooming us all as a result of my messed up priorities.

Why are so many people packing survival gear like torches and such when they're going to a designated government facility? Do you people live in countries governed by people with perfect darkvision or something? And guns? It's a high security facility, why do you feel need to pack (for example) a rimfire .22? With respect, the dudes with proper guns will laugh at you.

I strip the harddrives out of my PC and throw together some of my clothes, asthma meds and leave the house in my suit and shades.

Assuming that "immediate family" still counts even if we're now all adult, I pick my best friend Jones. If not, my brother because he's a doctor.

I lost the ability to relate with this story when I was told I was going to bed in the middle of the night.
Not being a gun owning maniac, I'd take a bottle of whisky and my hunting knife.
Because if i'm going to be up all night I'm going to make the most of it.

Okay, it's the middle of the night, and you're about to fall into bed after alot of work/gaming/art-ing/music-ing/jerking, and about two minutes into your rest, a loud knock is heard on your door, you rush downstairs (Or to the front door) and look through the peephole. There, are standing two very stern looking soldiers, behind them, you see a convoy of trucks with civilians starting to board onto.

"You and your immediate family have been chosen by the government to live in a high security survival facility, the reason is that unidentified creatures have crawled up on the shores(or borders) of the country and are taking down entire cities, and that you've shown either excellent leadership or academic skills and have been selected as such, you may choose one family within the region to be picked up as well, assuming they haven't been chosen."
Says the first soldier. And quickly followed by the second soldier,

"You have half an hour to pack, you may only bring one backpack, or two smaller bags, please hurry. Those unchosen are being moved to refugee camps."
You stand there, confused, but feeling uneasy, you quickly contact your chosen person to let them know, then run to wake up the rest of your family and have the two soldiers explain the situation, after you've done that you run up to your room and glance at the clock. 23 minutes left. What do you pack?

Okay, probably not the best backstory but nyeh. I'd quickly run upstairs and start loading my backpack with; a small waterproof torch, an umbrella, I'd pick a shirt, a pair of pants and my jacket from my wardrobe, my family annals and other records, my art diaries, I'd cram all my stationary and my two USBs into my pencilcase and then pull together my assortment of tailoring gear and archery maintenance kit into one. I'd then run downstairs, grab some socks and undies for good measure, and then slip on my sneakers.
As for the person I choose, probably my girlfriend.

PS. Sorry if this is substandard, my first thread here, and I haven't been on a forum for a while due to various unpleasent circumstances.

EDIT: Oh right, and wallet, phone+charger and camera+charger 8D
The issue of the girlfriend, i ran this situation past her a few days ago and she gave me a pretty good point in return. "So i just leave my family then?". That does suck to be her. Then you have to bring her family. And what about them? Her parents have friends and loved ones, as do her siblings. Its a bit of a never ending chain.

My books in one rucksack, god i love em. My memory stick of art and stuff, some clothes and my phone. If i can fit it my xbox/computer hardrive hard drive with phone/phone charger.

If I don't bring a family member can I have two backpacks and an hour? I'd bring my laptop and charger, my PS3, my iPod, the hard drive from the desktop, some games, and my dog, which I carry.

I have a large back pack.

Tell them that they're lying. I have shown either good leadership or academic schools. I'm a damn college student!

Anyway I'd probably just bring some clothes and my DS, gotta stay busy somehow while other people are busy doing my work.

My Xbox360, my Controllers, my NDS and PSP and everything needed for it, my I-Pod Nano and Charger, my Books of Ideas, Pencil Case and Earphones.

Also, its a High-Security facility! There'd be plenty of stuff there! Is there a need for weapons of survival and such?
