As someone who speaks, english, russian, and arabic. I will honestly say that learning REAL russian is a pain in the ass. Learning and mastering all of the cases within russian is one of the hardest things in language. Then I learned arabic.......yeah.

Spanish since it seems that the only way to get a job in the US anymore is to speak el spico. (im fluent in both Russian and French but that doesnt seem to matter)
And German since Im of German ancestry and just think it would be cool.

I'd probably go for German or Japanese. German to sing along to most Rammstein songs, or Japanese to watch anime without subs/dubs.

Chines because I think it would be good to know.
Japanese because (see Chines).
Latin because it will be fun to know a "dead" language.
French because (see Japanese).
German because (see French).
Italian because I have some Italian relatives.

What language would I like to be able to know instantly? Spanish

Then I'd have a class I can sleep through.

If it was classes, I'd like to learn Gaelic because I'm part scottish and intend to go there some day. And so I could curse at people and they would have no idea what I'm saying.

Arabic. Learned german and spanish, and I'm starting on arabic. It's harder but being able to write and speak it is more fulfilling than doing so in either other language to me.

Also, it's the most schizophrenic language ever. One second you could be talking in only smooth "y" and "l" vowels, and the next you'll switch it up with some of those beautiful kha's like in the middle of achmed.

French is The language of Diplomacy instaured by Francois 1er, i thinks that's another good reason.

Japanese. Korean is on that list after a geography assignment I did with a friend of mine.

Why? I already speak Portuguese, Finnish, English, Swedish, Spanish and French (most of them quite fluently) so I'm pretty much done with European languages. Might still learn Italian though.

EDIT: The above sounds really douchey when I read through it. I assure you it wasn't my intention.

It is a really hard call between Japanese Finnish and Swedish.

Japanese because it would be good for business, and would help me watch anime. Plus I would like to visit Japan some day.

Finnish/Swedish so that I can better understand their awesome folk metal.

*Has a feeling a lot of people feel the same*

I would like to pick Spanish back up for its practicality, Russian for no real reason, and sign language. Both my uncles on my mom's side have EXTREMELY bad hearing (one is deaf without hearing aids) and I worry that one day I'll have the same hearing problems.

Either Irish, because I'm from Ireland. Or Russian because it is an awesome language.

Need I say more?
Yeah, you need to say what you mean by "Irish". The predominant language in Ireland is English; there is no language called "Irish".

Icelandic for two reasons:

1. Some of my favourite bands come from there and i'd love to be able to understand the lyrics to their songs. Sigur Ros & múm.

2. The language is great, it's very odd but at the same time beautiful.
