Alright this seems to have gotten a good bit of reception so im going to be placing another one up in a few days. This next one will be considerably more difficult and it will take a good bit of knowledge base to really get the answer. HOWEVER, i will be awarding an actual prize so it should be good!

Simple is a very relative term. In the world of cryptography, this cipher is very simple. I still can't be fucked with working out the precise mechanics behind it, but it looks like a transpositional cipher. It'd take some time to figure out what the rearrangement rules are as I haven't made a serious study of codebreaking (I'm far more interested in the encrypting part), but it's not terribly complex.

Sorry coming to this a bit late, but I'm really intrigued as to which cipher was used, from looking at it it seemed like some kind of transposition cipher.
But now that someone's solved it I really feel no motivation to try and work it out, even given the text and the cipher text I have a lot of study to be doing.
So are you willing to give away the cipher or is that all hush hush still.

I aint got time to get too deeply into it, but I do remember a simple cypher that made the alphabet into a 5x5 grid, leaving out x or z, whichever wasn't getting used.

Is that a good place for people to start working from?

Scary thing, is I remember it from a kid's book when I was about 7, all about codes and codebreaking :D

Looking back I suppose it was quite easy to identify the code, if you knew what to look for, and then pretty easy to decipher that, but to me, having absolutely no knowledge of these types of codes and cyphers and whatnot, that just seemed impossible.

Fear not! there will be another one coming, however it will be a great deal more difficult and may be made up of multiple parts, however, there will be a prize at the end of the next one! Although i have yet to decide what the particular prize will be.
