"When I look on in your eyes then I'll do better" The Connells, '74-75
When I heard it made me think of how I'd just broken up with my girlfriend and how it felt so awful to be without her. I kept thinking that if she'd take me back I'd do better, I'd accept that she "did stuff" with another man, as long as i could be with her. I'd do better this time. And yeah, I know that that's not at all what the lyrics are about, but still.

DMC4- Shall Never Surrender >:]
I think the entire lyric in this song is awesome.
Here's a part-
"I'll tell you now I'm the one to survive
You never break my faith or my stride
I'll have you choke on your own demise
I make the angel scream, and the devil cry"

I don't know why these lyrics hit me hard, but they do. They hit me even harder when I listen to the American Idiot on Broadway version of the song.

The arrangement of Whatsername from the Broadway version is incredibly powerful. I actually much prefer almost all of the Broadway version to the originals.

OT:

"I will beat the odds,
I can go the distance.
I will face the world,
fearless proud and strong."

"Go the Distance" from Disney's Hercules, performed by Roger Bart.

The odds of me achieving my dreams are ludicrously stacked against me, but I am absolutely determined to push that from my mind and soldier on. Funny thing is, it's worked really, really well so far.

Also, pretty much the entirety of "Help Is On the Way" by Rise Against, but particularly the bridge. I lived in Louisiana through Hurricane Katrina, so that song brings back a lot of rough memories, and I tear up without fail every time I hear it.

Not a lyric, just part of a song:

06.39 to 07.55.

The birth of awesome, best part in any song ever made. Anyone who disagrees is probably deaf.
Considering that it's the Who, wouldn't you mean, "Anybody who disagrees is Probably Deaf, Dumb and Blind"?

Just a thought.

OT: How's Your Life been going on
I've got a wife now, years we've been going strong
Oh no, there's just something that I've got to say
Sometimes when we make love, I still see your face
~ "How Much I Feel" by Ambrosia.

A Whole New World from Aladdin always gets me for some reason:
"
I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide?

I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride

A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming

A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
It's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world with you
Now I'm in a whole new world with you

Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky

A whole new world
Don't you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things to see
Hold your breath - it gets better
I'm like a shooting star
I've come so far
I can't go back to where I used to be

A whole new world
Every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue
Every moment red-letter
I'll chase them anywhere
There's time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you

A whole new world
That's where we'll be
A thrilling chase
A wondrous place
For you and me"

Shins- pink bullets

"Since then it's been a book you read in reverse
So you understand less as the pages turn
Or a movie so crass
And awkardly cast
That even I could be the star.

I don't look back as much as a rule
And all this way before murder was cool
But your memory is here and I'd like it to stay
Warm light on a winter day."

thats how you write a song folks

Most of "How to Save a Life" by The Fray.

For example:

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive Until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed

Minutes seem like days
Since fire ruled the sky
The rich became the beggars
And the fools became the wise
Memories linger in my brain
Of burning from the acid rain
A pain I never have won

Nothing here remains
No future and no past
No one could foresee
The end that came so fast
Hear the prophet make his guess
That paradise lies to the west
So join his quest for the sun

Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be

The world slowly decays
Destruction fills my eyes
Harboring the image
Of a spiraling demise
Burning winds release their fury
Simulating judge and jury
Drfiting flurries of pain

Deafening silence reigns
As twilight fills the sky
Eventual supremacy
Daylight waits to die
Darkness always calls my name
A pawn in this recurring game
Humanity going insane

Shades of death are all I see
Fragments of what used to be

Minutes seem like days
Corrosion fills the sky
Morbid dreams of anarchy
Brought judgment in disguise
Memories linger in my brain
Life with nothing more to gain
Perpetual madness remains

Shades of death are all I see
Skeletons of society
Fragments of what used to be
Skeletons of society

Easily Slayer's best song. Cool apocalyptic lyrics combined with DAT RIFF. Seriously, the intro is absolutely crushing.

This one's from Emma Louise's awesome song, "Jungle:"

My love is wasted, sorry for this, I never meant to be
Hurting ourselves, hurting ourselves.
I'm complicated, you won't get me, I have trouble
Understanding myself, understanding myself.

Not only does it completely get me every time I hear it, but it accurately sums up my headspace in every relationship I've ever had. Yes, guys, my head really is a jungle. Yes, it really is me and not you.

Onward, into the heart of the battle fought the sons of Odin.
Outnumbered many times, still they fought on.
Blood poured forth from their wounds deep into the earth.
Vultures waited for the broken shells that once were bodies.
But Odin alone would choose the day they would enter Valhalla
AND IN THEIR HOUR OF NEED HE SENT FORTH UNTO THEM... THE BERSERKER RAGE!
NOW GODS AND MEN THEY ROSE UP FROM THE GROUND SCREAMING LIKE WILD ANIMALS,
SUCH IS THE GIFT OF ABSOLUTE POWER!
NO BLADE OR WEAPON COULD HARM THEM;

THEY KILLED MEN AND HORSES ALIKE,
AND ALL WHO STOOD BEFORE THEM
DIED THAT DAY! HAIL GODS OF WAR!

I always get chills from the sheer badassery of this part of the Manowar song "The Sons of Odin"

All of Love Ire & Song by Frank Turner, I can't single out just one line. The man is a genius when it comes to lyrics.

"And the weirdest thing is that this house
Has locks to keep the baddies out
But they're mostly used to lock ourselves in.."

-'Perfect' Tim Minchen

God. When I first heard this song, long before I ever saw him live, the last line there broke my heart. It was so raw and visceral the way he sang that line, and it's always enraptured and saddened me.

"This earthquake weather has got me shakin'"

From Pictures of You by The Last Goodnight. It just hits me hard. Hell, the whole song does. No idea why.

A line in this song:
Skip to 03:20 to hear the line, but the whole sequence is awesome anyway so give it a listen :)
Anyway
"He made the devil so much stronger than a man" I feel like climaxing whenever I hear that line, it's just so... powerful, must be the english teacher inside of me I guess
The line after it about the syren is pretty good too

It's the moment of truth and the moment to lie
The moment to live and the moment to die
The moment to fight, the moment to fight, to fight, to fight, to fight

To the right
To the left
We will fight to the death
To the edge of the earth
It's a brave new world
From the last to the first

Everytime I hear this part (and the rest of the song) Im urged to scream along.

Across the Nation -- Union Underground

"Forget the lies, the money!
We're in this together, and through it all!
they said, that nothing's forever
AND THEY REFUSE TO SEE, THE CHANGE IN ME, WHY WON'T THEY WAKE UP!?"

That last bit stabs me with an icicle. It reminds me that if I ever do fulfill my dream to be a WWE Superstar, then I shouldn't sell out.
