To the Austrailian Christian Lobby

I'd like to share something with you I heard on the BBC about the Oslo incident. There was a man they interviewed who heard somthing was going on on the island and answered a call for help, got on his boat and went straight to the island.

Even when he saw injured people being taken away he advanced on, even when he discovered that there was an armed gunman killing people randomly, the promise he made to go back to the students he met overrode his fear for himself.

And he wasn't the only one. Between 50 and 100 students were evacuated in this way by good people who it wasn't their jobs to put their neck on the line but THEY DID!

This was your chance to promote the good shepard and the good samaritan, two of the most powerful christian stories and what do you do, you become the wolf and the barbarians, picking on people in the time of need.

You are alienating us, the people you need to keep your religion alive and eventually people will question these sort of harmful actions and leave. So back off gaming, any damage you do to something that is becoming mainstream will only damage you in the long term.

From - A gamer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now an IMPORTANT message for all those boat owners in Norway that went in to get people out

The world owes you a debt, you didn't need to go onto that island but you did, you risked your lives to save children in what can only be described as the darkest hour for the world.

A salute, a thank you from humanity and I hope in time the Norweign politicians get off their backsides and reward you properly.

From again - a gamer

I seriously don't understand the co-relation here.
I think he's trying to say that instead of focusing on the positive, the media started focusing on the negatives. So instead of detailing the heroism of a few people, they focused on the manifesto that displayed facts that suggested the killer used gaming as a training tool.

If that's the link...it was pretty poorly worded.
It relies on knowldge of the two stories in question.

The Good Samaritan is about people helping that you wouldn't expect to and the Good Shepard is about the concept of looking after everyone down to the last person.

I am Christian myself so I guess I believed that these stories were known, guess that was my fault.

The whole thing is puzzling to me. Maybe I need a link to the news item but there seems to be 3 things being talked about - a war-torn country, the Christian Lobby and gaming - but not together.

I don't normally get angry but instead of ripping this post apart understand the spirit fo it.

I am a gamer showing my sympathy towards what can only be described as an attrocity to humanity and I am showing my sympathy towards the people there and by saluting the heroes of that day, something that the Australian Christian Lobby appear not to be doing.

This is a time where the support of everyone is needed around the globe to support the people of Norway through this time, not a time to be negative.

Now if you wish to show your support to these people then please leave a message, I will try and find the radio report online to link to.

Shadree - learn current events.

Firstly Norway isn't a war-torn country, it is an exceptionally peaceful country that has recently suffered from a delusional madman's attack.

Secondly, the Australian Christian Lobby has responded to this by pointing out that the aforementioned madman, Anders Breivik, apparently trainied himself with video games. They are using this as a reason to lobby for the banning violent games in Australia - Australia is currently in the process of implimenting an R18 rating for video games.

There, now we're all up to date.

The Good Samaritan story is not just about that, it's about being prepared to reduce yourself to lower than the person you're helping for the sake of the person you're helping.

But yeah I agree with what you're saying. This "Christian" lobby could have done some good, seen the good in what those people did, but no they had to put themselves completely out of touch and attack gaming which is obviously in their agenda to do. This was obviously the 'perfect' justification to spread the FUD they did do. In the end they bore none of the spirit their moniker suggests, making them hypocrites in the highest.

Aaaah I get it now. Just try and make who 'they' is a tad clearer.

The reason why most of us isn't getting this is because you never mention the 'ACL' once in your OP. I recommend that because it was very confusing. The links weren't important, just the 'they' part.

trained himself with video games? what utter bollocks.
it's akin to having some road hoon say they "trained" playing need for speed.
it's not like the guy got experience with powerful firearms by hunting or anything.

To the Austrailian Christian Lobby,

The Norway gunman is thought to be a Christian fundamentalist. I guess we should ban Christians then.

Sincerely,

Your own full-retard logic XOXOXOX

Thankyou Superior Mind. I don't keep up with current events so your update is appreciated. I only required the context and I appreciate you clarifying the issue.
