Well hey there Escapist.

I'm currently enrolled in a two year course on the subject of Video Game Production. As part of my Research coursework i've been asked to get people to fill out questionnaires, this however would require me standing on a freezing street corner making a fool of myself. So i plead to you Escapist, spare a moment of your time and keep me off the streets. You know it's safer that way.

1. How many hours a week do you spend playing Video Games

2. Which Console(s) do you own?

3. Do you prefer Pc gaming, or console gaming?

4. What is your favourate game genre? (I.e FPS, RPG, Puzzle...)

5. How much do you normally spend on a game?

6. Do you prefer buying physical copies of games, or Digital distribution?

7. Do you think you're more likely to be sequels to games than buy into unknown franchises?

8. Do you enjoy games that try to challenge you?

Okay, I'll bite:

1. Probably somewhere between 8 and 10

2. Current gen: PS3 but I've owned all of them before

3. Console only because I've never had a good enough PC before

4. RPGs

5. If it's something I want, I'll buy it at full price but if it's something I just feel iffy about, I'll wait for a while.

6. Physical. I'm a collector and I like the physical disk and box of it. Having things digitally just isn't the same.

7. Sequels if it's something from a series I like but I'm always open to new things.

8. A game that doesn't challenge me is not a good game.

Now where's my cookie?

1. Depends what time of year it is and if i just recently got a game but id say around 5+ hours
2. I have an xbox 360 and a game cube and an N64
3. Console gaming because i dont have a computer good enough for that stuff
4. Rpg's
5. 60 dollars. I love to buy games right away some reason
6. Physical copies. I don't like digital distribution
7. Easily yeah. If i liked a game at first than ill automatically buy the next game. Otherwise i have to do more research on it
8. I like a challenge but after awhile I want to be able to beat the game. I hate it when i have to put the game aside because its too damn hard.

:) *noms cookie*

2. PS3, 360, Wii, GameCube, PS2, N64
3. Console
4. RPG
5. Considering how many games I've gotten for about ~$5, probably about an average of about $20
6. Physical
7. No, a good game is a good game
8. Yes

Now, where are my cookies? =D

1.) It depends on the week and what's going on. My mom says "too much," if that helps at all.
2.) xBox360 and PC
3.) No real preference
4.) RPGs
5.) Depends on the game
6.) Whichever is more convenient at the time
7.) I just buy whatever looks fun
8.) Isn't that what they're supposed to do?

I like chocolate chip cookies, and if possible, orange mittens.

1. About 10 to 30, depends very much on if I feel like it.

2. Xbox 360 and a PS2.

3. Console gamer.

4. RPG/J-RPG

5. About £30 (I normally buy second hand.)

6. Physical copies.

7. Definitely more likely to buy sequels.

8. Yeah, I do like a challenge, makes things interesting for me.

I expect my free cookies and mittens to be in the post and on my door-step tomorrow morning. Hope that helps.

1) Between 5-10
2) *deep breath* Atari 2600, Sega MegaDrive (Genesis), Lynx, GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, PlayStation 1, Playstation 2, XBOX 360, Wii, DS, DSi, PSP, PS3, and PC.
3) Console gaming, by far.
4) RPG
5) $70 - $120, depending on the retailer.
6) Physical
7) If the new franchise reminds me of a familiar, older game then I'd buy a new game.
8) To an accomplishable extent, by which I mean there should be some effort needed, but not an intense amount. If the challenge is "Defeat X Players In A Row Online!", or an obscenely large number of collectables, that's not cool.

And I'll gladly trade my mittens for a nice block of ice. Too warm for mittens, for at least 6 months, if not more.

Ehh ill bite.

1: Dependent on courseload. During school, ill be lucky to get 10 hours a week, during breaks closer to 70-80 hours per week

2:As of today it will be PC, PS3. By the spring a new 360 will be added to it.(edit: i HAVE owned a 360 before, but the wifee got it in the separation)EDIT2: Oh, also, Im currently sporting an a320 dingo & Caanoo, if you really want to consider those gaming platforms.

3:personally. PC. Not a big fan of the couch as my level of friends has dwindled over the years and im more likely than not playing a single player campaign game anyway. Better graphics, better framerates.

4:Hardcore RPG.

5:Too varied to say. Usually I will wait till a game gets on or below the 25$ mark, but there are always exceptions both ways.

6: Physical 100% X Infinity. DD is only going to hurt gaming as a whole.

7:Really depends on the franchise. Id gladly buy bioshock 3 without thinking, but it will take coersion to get me to buy FFXV. So... ill say I perfer new IPs, just because they are more free and not limited to conventions from prior installments.

8:Absolutely, provided the challenge is logical, and is an actual challenge. I am still working on Demons souls to get 100% completion. However a game such as say Mass effect 2... i would never bother doing so. Both are good games in their own right, but Im playing DS for the challenge, and ME2 for the story. So i wont bother with MEs side missions.

1) Around 10 or so on average at the moment. I haven't felt like sitting around putting a lot of time into games lately, so I only managed to crack that much last week because of Left 4 Dead 2 on the weekend.

2) PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and a DS Lite.

3) Neither, they both have games that I like on them. I lean towards PC at the moment since my PS3 is kinda fucking up right now.

4) JRPG and strategy.

5) $110 for the PS3 and $90ish for the PC.

6) Physical copies.

7) Generally, yes. If I consider buying the sequel to a game, it's nearly always because I played the original and enjoyed it enough that I'd want a sequel. Doesn't stop me buying into unknown franchises, just that I tend to be more cautious and do a lot more research into new IPs.

8) Yes.

So i plead to you Escapist, spare a moment of your time and keep me off the streets. You know it's safer that way.

1. How many hours a week do you spend playing Video Games About two or three, thanks to university and work. In the holidays, maybe upwards of twenty hours per week, over all consoles and PC?

2. Which Console(s) do you own? I have a laptop that I play games on; I also own a Nintendo DS and an Xbox 360. My mother has a Wii that I sometimes play on when home for holidays, and we have a family (joint-owned) PS2.

3. Do you prefer Pc gaming, or console gaming? Depends on the game. For things like shooters and action-oriented games, I prefer console. For things like puzzles, adventure games, or RTSs, I much prefer playing on PC.

4. What is your favourate game genre? (I.e FPS, RPG, Puzzle...) Kind of a toss-up between FPS, RTS and point-and-click adventure. To be honest I'd have to go with RTS.

5. How much do you normally spend on a game? I tend to wait for deals or buy pre-owned, so usually under £10 per game. Up to £25 for a game that I really want or think deserves it more.

6. Do you prefer buying physical copies of games, or Digital distribution? I much prefer physical copies, because I don't like the idea of losing the games I've paid good money for if something happens to, say, my Steam account or my GWL account (not that I have one of the latter... :p). At least with a physical copy nothing will happen that it's not insured for, and if the disc scratches I can always get it repaired or replaced :p. You can't polish the surface of a digital file...

7. Do you think you're more likely to be sequels to games than buy into unknown franchises? If I really like a game series then I'll certainly buy the sequels. With a new franchise, I tend to be more objective and think "well, will I really enjoy this or not?". For example, I only bought H.A.W.X. after playing the demo for the sequel. I'd previously heard good things about the series but never been persuaded enough to buy the games. But I'll certainbly be getting AC: Brotherhood despite not having seen gameplay or a demo or anything, because I trust Ubisoft enough to keep on improving on the series after the brilliance that was AC and AC2.

8. Do you enjoy games that try to challenge you? I enjoy a challenge, but I do like completing things too, so I enjoy harder games if there's a way of reducing difficulty. I thing a sliding scale or a level that you can change during the game (like between missions in the Halo games) is a good idea, because then I get my fix of being challenged yet still have the option to make things easier if I need it.

1. How many hours a week do you spend playing Video Games
20-40 hours

2. Which Console(s) do you own?
Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advanced, Game Boy Advanced SP, Nintendo DS, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox360, Dreamcast, Atari 2600, Gamecube, Wii, PSP, and a gaming PC.

3. Do you prefer Pc gaming, or console gaming?
I could go with either really. I prefer PC gaming, but with recent games having shoddy PC ports and pretty painful DRM, I've been buying more games on a console.

4. What is your favourate game genre? (I.e FPS, RPG, Puzzle...)
Don't have one.

5. How much do you normally spend on a game?
$50 USD

6. Do you prefer buying physical copies of games, or Digital distribution?
Physical. All the way.

7. Do you think you're more likely to be sequels to games than buy into unknown franchises?
Depends if the previous games in the series were fun. I'll buy into a new franchise. Provided its set somewhere interesting and not another place on Earth.

8. Do you enjoy games that try to challenge you?
Yes, but few games actually provide a good challenge. Most of the time they just make certain enemies have more health and do more damage. Thats not challenging, its boring. I much prefer challenges in the form of puzzles. Both literal and more gameplay-related.

1. Now a days about 2-3 ours max.

2. I own a 360 and PS3, and sometimes game on my PC.

3. Console gaming. I grew up with it.

4. RTS. Definitely RTS.

5. $40-$60

6. For consoles I prefer physical copies, for PC I prefer digital.

7. Nope, I prefer delving into an unknown franchise.

8. Somewhat, it just depends on how well the game is designed around the concept of being difficult.

I'll take my cookie and mittens now.

Sounds solid. Lemme give it a go.

1. A week? Maybe 20+ hours, if you're counting weekends.

2. Under the possession of my family unit, as opposed to me personally: N64, PS2, Xbox, GC, Wii, 360. Myself: 0. All collective ownership. Note: I didn't include PCs, but I have those too.

3. Console gaming

4. RPG

5. As much as it costs. Most of the time, I try and wait until the price goes down before I buy. The last game I personally bought was Halo 3 (a few months ago) at $30. I'd say on average, $50 per game.

6. Physical copies. I'm not very confident in having the be-all-end-all of games only on a computer.

7. I'm probably more likely to buy sequels.

8. I like a game that challenges, but I don't like it if the challenge is obnoxiously hard. This includes more physical, reflexive, and skill-based challenges to the thinking kind. You know, strategy, logic puzzles. Don't get me wrong, I like a nice physical challenge, but I'm an intellectual type more.
