Trying to apply continuity to the logic of AVP is a fool's errand. Seeing as how the gestation of a xeno can take anywhere from hours (the first Alien) to minutes (AVP).

You can't tell, but I'm sighing really heavily right now.

That would be it right there. It may not look like much, but the fact that 80% of the battle is luck made it one hell of a fight. On top of that, the whole having to do a side quest that stretched the entirety of the game use so I could physically attack it made it even worse.
