Sadly my country is very racist, let me put to you how racist:

Aboriginals (The Native people of Australia) get benefits purely because they are Aboriginal, they also get larger doll payments (that means unemployment pay), Certain private schools are even paid to school some aboriginals for free (free to the aboriginal that is). Aboriginals also get first choice of public housing. The fact is that so long as anyone is treated differently because of their race then the public will be divided, even if the treatment is meant to be done in attonement.

Certain remote aboriginal communities are not allowed alcohol in them. At all. Worst of all they're not even allowed PORN. PORN! Fucking hell, if that happened anywhere else there would be rioting in the streets. Many people however do see this as an infringement upon personal rights and are rightly outraged.

Because of the aforementioned benefits some aboriginals frequently choose not to work and become drains, living filthily, spending large amounts on alcohol and often turn to crime. Though I've illusions that if such things were offered to anyone else they'd take them up, I'll even admit that if I recieved some of the benefits that I would do it. This however fuels the racist attitudes people have, and it's a shame, because some of the most prominent men and women I've seen were aboriginals who were trying to make something of themselves and prove that they're good people.

I like Britain, although I greatly disagree with certain details of your law and how you're run, I find a great deal of that is redeemed with the fact that you seem to have an attitude of "We're not the free-est, we have rules, they're not all fair, but if you don't like it then you can fuck off".

In my local paper, the Sunday Mail, one article disturbed me. In India, call centers are training their staff on how to deal with Australian customers, saying we're quote "the dumbest continent in the world," we "drink constantly" and are "quiet racist." One comment that got me was that we are "technologically backwards." Now as someone who has 5 consoles, a smartphone and a tablet device, I felt insulted. What do you lot think?

actually i live in Australia and nearly 75% of the people i went to school with hated other people just because of there colour

and i don't know alot of people who are not racist.

Let's be honest. We have our share of racist bogans. But who doesn't?

Indians aren't generally hated by most people in Australia, but Indian call centre employees who interrupt you during dinner certainly are.

My Indian neighbours (fair few Punjabi sikhs where I live) hate Indian call centre employees.

I would say the average Australian is very racist. Does that mean all of us are? Of course not.

Technologically backwards? Yes, yes we are. Incredibly. The simple fact that the idiot conservatives of this country consider the NBN a bad idea is proof enough of that. Our government wanted to censor the internet. Video games still aren't treated as a legitimate medium. Can't get much more backwards than that.

All drunks? Hell yes, but those of us that are reasonable people are hilarious when we're drunk.

I wouldn't worry about it. This is no different than if this call centre had said "All Americans are Jesus loving gun nuts." It's true for some, but not everyone.

This sounds like how American Indians were treated here. Many felt no part of American society and turned to alcohol and got bad reputations. Then they turned many of their Reservations into gambling resorts since technically this land isn't part of the state or county they're in but are federally protected. So now all the suburban white people spend their weekend's gambling their money away at Indian casinos. Wait, did I just generalize? Oops. Maybe the Aboriginal population can set up gaming centers where M-rated games are available for play. Poverty sucks doesn't it?

I'm sorry, but I don't buy that.

Here they do live in the same areas as everyone else, unless they chose to live out in the sticks. They are given government housing and benefits, they receive the same education as everyone else in the same schools. If anything they are often given more help due to their "disadvantage".

They chose to do drugs, they chose to drink, and they chose to actively discourage their children from breaking the cycle.

unfortunetly it's true and since i go to a school where.......well lets just say i'm the only white kid in the class.
Theres a constant block between the Africans and Aboriginals kids here but it very rarely resorts to violence(most of the time).
anyway my fiend paea has smoked over a hundred cigarettes so i geuss i'm just giving a realworld example here.

I've never really heard about this side of the Aussies. I thought you guys were supposed to be super laid back? Mind you, I could be judging an entire nation on the one Australian guy I know. Not too sure.
