A New Console

If a fourth (heaven forbid) console were to be release (say Sega got their act together) what would you want it to have? What would you as a console gamer want from it? Would you use existing IP's, and what ones? Would you have mainly exclusives? Push for graphics?

And what would you do without?

I simply post this, because I've been reading through some articles on the topic of Sega. Many people (myself included) feel their is something missing from our favourite hobby without Sega around. Maybe if you were more loyal to Nintendo, this may not be the case, but I wondered what anyone thought about a new Sega console too. I say to hell with the current 7th gen. I've picked 360 merely as the lesser of threee evils, and whilst its all still good and fun, gaming just isnt what it was 7 years ago.

I could see Apple diving in the ring; they talked about it at the start of the last gen but never got into it. Really I can't think of much I would want from a console that the 360 doesn't offer or isn't working on offering (as fanboy as that sounds; and to think I used to snuggle a ps2 and a dreamcast ;_.
I'd like to see more availability to download games onto the console, or keep multiple discs in or something. To be honest I'm a big proponent of digital distribution and I'd like to see that stepped up. I don't think it'll ever supersede hard copies of games, but I certainly hope it'll be an option. I'd also like local co-op to stop disappearing; sometimes, when the moon is full, and I can bare to face the rest of humanity, it's nice to play games with other people in person
Things I wouldn't mind leaving: Playing CD's, gamerscore, streaming music from my PC.

An Apple console would be interesting, so long as it wasn't all about connectivity with the Ipod or Mac etc.

games (of a technical standard of Crisis).
a blu-ray drive,
amazing graphics (1080p+, DX10, AA, the kitchen sink)
HD audio 7.1
support for any usb controller,
free online,
mouse and keyboard support,
cross platform gaming,
interesting exclusives,
friendly community (lots of modding, no rabid 9yr olds,
wi-fi
maybe include good browser (preferably firefox)
and it needs to have amazing customer service and an ethos of not ripping you off (i'm looking at you apple!)

I hate to say it, but I am mostly a Nintendo fan or just into games casually. Graphics to me are important but not THE most important, I've had plenty of fun with games back in the 'ol days where it was nothing but a bunch of moving color pixels.

You're describing a PC.

And for me, I'd rather not have another console thrown into the mix. We already have our three consoles and each kinda has its purpose. The 360 has the best online support (and it better), the PS3 has the best hardware, and the Wii has motion control, for an entirely different kind of gaming.

Unless the new system went the route of the Wii with "entirely different kind of gaming", but different from the Wii's different, I can't see myself caring.

Maybe a holodeck. That'd be a pretty bangin' console.

although another console would further fuel the "console wars" it'd be like wwII with the new console being America...arriving to late to be given credit
