Some may remember speed runs in Goldeneye 64 in the Facility, trying for some ungodly time like 2:05. How many people did you shoot? 1 maybe, because he was in the way?

I've cut down on the number of things I need to play Crysis, one of my favorite single player experiences, until I beat the game without any weapons usage at all (besides required by objective). This has been done in a couple of stealth games ala Deus Ex HR or Dishonored, but it's been hard to get momentum going in an action game without player-side violence.

Mirror's Edge did a fine job, but I'd like to see more action games where violence is strictly optional (as opposed to being relegated only to those looking for an extreme challenge).

A student of mine told me he played through New Vegas entirely relying on Charisma and followers. He basically talked his way out of most things, and if he couldn't talk his way out, he ran and let his followers fight for him.
I've been doing this ever since additional follower mods started coming out. It's lots of fun, especially in New Vegas where Speech is probably the first stat you should raise (seriously it's like a diplomatic embargo between all the factions of the wasteland). Unless you're on hardcore with essential turned off (followers can die) however it becomes kind of unrealistic because your followers are either too powerful/overgeared or invincible.

I'd really like to see more illusionists, like scaring the enemy away, tricking them into attacking each other and so on. I am currently trying this in Skyrim but so far I find that I don't really have any offensive powers against single targets.

The concept is still great fun and I really like the play-style it forced me into; Sneaking in the dark, throwing illusions around.

I always wanted to play as either an electricity powered character or someone who was effectively an earthbender

We have Cole from inFamous, now I'm still waiting to pretend I'm Toph Bei Fong

We need more Alien heros. And I don't mean Kryptonians, I mean full on not from earth looking creatures

I wanna play as a tank.
Yes.
A tank.
In a single-player story full of adventure! and drama! and fun! and romance!
Like, I dunno. A haunted Tiger II or something.
Please tell me you have heard of Battletanx: Global Assault

It's rare as shit and its short but it's legendary

WoW has Shield Bash! And whatever that thing is called that paladins have that make them throw their shields!
Pray, what else does it have?

No, no, I can wait.

. . .

. . .

. . .

Yeeeaaahhh . . .

Warriors and Paladins, the most melee-focused classes in the game (lore-wise, anyway), have maybe a handful of shield abilities between them, half of which are magic that the paladin uses, which don't count for obvious reasons. Half of them are useless (there are interrupts which don't use shields and do more damage) and the other half are cripplingly overspecialized.

Dragon Age: Origins, to justify why I used it as an example, had several shield bashes and attack combinations that used shields, as well as a number of passive shield abilities that had a variety of effects. There were also talents that increased your combat effectiveness for using a shield, and having a shield was a perfectly viable option no matter what situation you were thrust into.

So, yeah. WoW really doesn't like shields.

A character that uses telekinesis to wield massive weapons and objects large enough to be used as weapons.

If surrounded by debris, you can pull something like the golem conduits in Infamous and make a massive armored suit that only uses melee attacks.

You can rip flak cannons and other mounted weapons off of their bases for long range attacks.

You can lift enemies and use the right analog stick make them fly up, slam back down, or get sent flying to the side.

Force push

And of course picking debris up to beat down enemies.

You have HP with regenerating segments and a kinetic shield like ME3.

You have infinite ammo and mana but enemies can break everything you pick up.

Also, I want more shapeshifting protagonists.

One of the most fun times I had in a playthrough is Skyrim was when I decided to only use Restoration, Alteration and Illusion. I am entirely forbidden to kill enemies (shouts are an exception, but only against dragons) and I can only support my followers. The most aggressive spell I've used so far is a Fury spell.

The point of that gaming-tactic is that I no longer play the hero of the story, I am his/her follower. I am the weak and undergeared follower that is lead around by the Dragonborn. I admit it can be a bit frustrating, like when a bandit and my follower got stuck on each side of a rock and refused to swim around it, but still really entertaining.

What about a pacifist?

I've seen it done in Skyrim.
There's quite a few builds possible, some of the shouts lend themselves very well to the style.

Basically it's a stealth/support build and in the event that combat is unavoidable you make enemies kill each other.
Also having a companion that you buff to do the bread and butter choppy slashy stuff is important.

But yeah, pacifist is viable in Skyrim at least, I'd be interested to know what other games would allow a pacifist style.

Isn't this possible in every Bethesda game ever, MGS to just way harder to do.

OT:

and a REAL fucking one this time.

Full moon, dislikes Silver, Berzerker, the whole nine yards of it.

and yes, I'm aware of Legacy of Darkness and Blood Roar (and Altered Beast)

I just wanna see more games where you play one, and not as a side quest thing like TeS
