I picked up New Vegas a few weeks ago (Having a lot of fun, and very few bugs too) And have been cruising through the story, enjoying myself all the way through. But then, something occurred. I had no idea what too do.

And no, thats not some snarky "Ohh, Obsidian didn't do a good job explaining where to go next!" Kinda thing. this is me, the player, actually confused as to how I should proceed. This occurred shortly after I picked up the Platinum Chip from Benny's Corpse and met Yes man. he offered me control of New Vegas, and I literally screamed with glee. Owning the strip? all this wealth, the power? sign me up. But then I encountered the couriers. the two main groups were also eying my prize, and needed my chip to do it. now, at first I considered handing the chip over to the NCR, as Id been helping them since the beginning of the game but deep down, I was worried. Consider the town of Nipton. this is a town that is literally surrounded on all side by the NCR, and is so far west that its un-questionably falls under NCR jurisdiction. And yet, they let the place get burned, and the population burned, by their biggest enemy. would they let the strip suffer the same fate? And what about Cesar? on the one hand, his work ethics and laws have created law from lawless ness. From what i understand, Arizona was a shithole unlike the World had seen, and he created from it an empire capable of conquering a massive chunk of the U.S. on the other hand, Cesar is a complete nob, who would tax the strip, tear down the casinos, get rid of the liquor, and kill all the whores. he would take the Vegas outta Vegas. So since then, iv basically been doing quests for the various "Tribal" groups mentioned by Yes Man, wondering what too do myself.

My question to you Escapist, is what you have done in my shoes, and your reasoning behind it.

Why, I made up a backstory and motivation for each character I played as, and then chose the most appropriate faction. Well, all except the first time I played.

Personally, I'd choose Mr. House, because he is, in his own words, the last best hope for mankind. He has an army of robots, and it is his Platinum Chip after all. Also, invadinq the Fort is too much fun for me to side with Caesar. It never qets old!

some miqht say i play this qame too much i say that is not bad that is called dedication and im pretty sure people qet medals for it

I took the strip over. It wasn't easy, but then, I probably hadn't leveled enough to make it so. It's a lot of travel, and you piss everyone off basically, but it's fun.

If you aren't sure what you want to do, make a save file right now and then branches trying each. Or start over each time for even more variety.

My first character allied herself with NCR. She had so much history with the republic, as I do through Fallout and Fallout 2, and trusted them to do the right thing with Nevada. Also, she single-handedly destroyed Caesar's fortress and popped the head honcho's head off with an anti-materiel rifle. :D I chose freedom of choice.

My new character, a delightful martial artist, ran straight to Vegas to talk to Mr. House before even doing a single quest in Goodsprings. She'll be a good pawn for Mr. House's ambitions. House can clearly lead humankind to unparalleled greatness, although probably at the expense of even the more friendly of his rivals. Oh, and 50% income tax, too. Only time can tell if the sacrifices are worth what his brilliant mind has to offer.

I could probably go Yes Man with a character, and see if I can turn myself into a Diet House of sorts, but the Legion... I'd really have to create a complete dickhead character to side with the Legion. They have order and military might, sure, but at the expensive of much too many freedoms. I mean, I could accept the ban on alcohol (and chems), but slavery and complete male dominance? No. Just... no. And they're too damn backwards too.

I would do the options that I would least like to do first for the achievements and then just enjoy the final ending doing the one I most preferred, at the moment I can't decide between house and the NCR.

give it to mr house, its the best choice if you care about humanity, hes a 300 year old genius whos only goal in life is to restore Vegas back to its glory and to give humanity a decent place to live in its created hell. and once ncr and the legion are off his back, im sure he would go on to make life better for the little people in freeside and across the waste. all mr house wants is to make life better for humanity. long live house, long live vegas.

This.

I pondered what to do with the chip for a LONG time, then after having a chat with Mr. House he convinced me that he knew what he was doing and in the end I got a really good ending.

Except for the Brotherhood of Steel whose base I blew up under orders from Mr. House, but not before learning how to wear power armor :D

I screwed things up majorly. I'm left with the options of either taking over New Vegas, or... taking over New Vegas. Thus, that's the course that I still have to take.
