Well self-indignation is funny - we can always make fun of ourselves...
...but when a country with more brainwashing than a Scientologist convention makes a vid like that, nothing good can come of it. People there aren't having a good laugh, they are plotting embargoes and cultural warfare. It's not meant as a joke, or for comedic value, it's meant to be educational. That's fucking scary - so screw them.

~~But they did refer to Paris Hilton as a "Narcissistic Parasite", so they can't be all that bad.

I laughed at the 30% of them can't find the pacific ocean on a map part.
We all know that 1/4 of all Americans are retarded, even South Park covered this.

Wow, I agree with North Korean Propaganda! we as a culture put way too much pressure on our men to be alpha males and our women to be super models because it makes the rich richer and the poor poorer and suffer from low self esteem.

But then again suffering from literal gender confusion with society shoving it in my face is much better then being put in a death camp for not dusting my required picture of a dictator. But then again, America jails you for years for simple possession of drugs that they traffic in themselves because prison is cheap labor and rather then rehabilitate make you more likely to get jailed again so you can perform more cheap labor. (its been proven.) But at least in my country I get to eat 2-3 meals a day and am free to say what I want.

I'll be honest and say both countries are pretty scary. I'm happy I'm not in either. (I mean NO offense to Americans please but your country scares me!)

Because trash TV and pop culture is totally the same as a murderous, torturing, and brainwashing dictatorship.

Yeah, the video is absolutely right, but they're North Korea; They ain't got nothing on America that North Korea doesn't have tenfold. A serial killer can come up to me and claim that Jersey Shore is putrid, I don't care that he's right on the money, he's a fucking serial killer.

Our culture has flaws? Stop the presses!

I guess this might come as a surprise to some people, but even communist dictatorships can point out legitimate grievances and flaws regarding the West, seeing as every nation has a ton of problems. In fact, if the N. Korean government is anything like the CCP, they use the whole "the West is imperialist, consumerist, hypocritical, etc" rhetoric to deflect criticism of their own policies. So, it's not so much that our dear friends in North Korea are trying to enlighten us; it's just that they're pointing out (rather obvious) flaws in other countries so their citizens might forget that they're starving to death.

so while you are starving your people i will sit here, in my warm room, eat food and read different opinions on a topic (and this is the kicker) they are all right and valid AND nobody is getting killed for stating them!!!!11111

oh and while a lot of the things said in this video may be true i wont say it made a valid point since the intent behind it was not the change the flaws shown therein but to make a country THAT DELIBERATELY KILLS ITS OWN PEOPLE BY STARVING THEM look better.

The modern capitalistic and consumerist culture is scum, simple as that.

Though know that I could make a much more valid video criticizing North-Korea.
Capitalism only bums me out because it has a religious following.

Profit for the sake of profits is really disappointing, I was never a fan of that objectivism esque belief structure.

Garnering the highest profits with the least negative impact should be the truest sign of a successful business. :/

Luckily on the consumerist front I don't watch television anymore, so with the exception of the ads on the Escapist, Reddit, and Youtube I don't get much in the way of nagging mental assaults.

It's funny watching it with that oddly robotic dub but I pretty much agree with everything... celebrity culture is fucking stupid. Not that Kim Jong Un and his family are guilty of brainwashing the population and turning themselves into a celebrity cult... not at all.

Many celebrities today are talentless narcissists? Wow, shocking news that is violently suppressed in the west that none of us brain washed puppets suspected.

You crazy fools. You guys can stay locked up if you have the nerve to insult one of the greatest actors of this world. Have you not seen Commando? Good! You never will now. HMPH!
The thing is, Kim Jong Il probably did see it. The guy was a massive film buff, so its ironic to see his son's "administration" panning American film stars.

I'm surprised he didn't take a few shots at fox news or any other media channels. Pop media is garbage i will agree with that, but i prefer free speech/expression over prison.

Breaking News:

North Korea releases anti-American propaganda film showcasing how bad American media is. Film is part of North Koreas ceaseless drive to fellate itself and convince it's citizens and the rest of the world that 'merica is "evil" and that North Korea is "the best".

Film contains images of the worst examples of American media, hyperbolic "facts", and is narrated with inflammatory and pithy, yet sometimes appropriate, dialog.

World response: "Oh North Korea. You so crazy. We all know pop-culture media is flooded with garbage. Tell us something we don't know. By the way, ever fix that starvation and totalitarian government thing?"

More at eleven.

LOL because that's totally what everyone is doing in this thread..

most of the people have pointed out that alot of that shit is true in the video, but the point is that they are taking/picking some of the worst/most obscure stuff to critique at, AND they aren't actually poking fun like most people do, they are using this for educational purposes to try and make north korea seem superior in some way.

wait...you must be a sleeper spy!

...HA!

North Korea just bumped itself up a couple points in my humble opinion.

....Actually a startling thought, anyone with the least bit intelligent in the west will look at that video and go "And...?", are we desensitized to it? Maybe there is something to this being horrifying to the North Koreans.

OKay....

This is North Korea we're talking about.

This is a place who's last leader, WHO WAS AN AVID FAN OF AMERICAN CINEMA, considered Friday the 13th to be the pinnacle of movie entertainment.

Yea, I'm not taking seriously this thing's opinion, even if it is correct.
Good point.

I just got to the bit where they talk about WWE... (which, hey, as a wrestling fan I feel oddly proud North Korea thinks Pro-Wrestling is relevant here.)

Completely ignoring the fact that World Championship Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling put on a joint show together for North Korea and their Emperor in the mid-90s. Clearly the sight of Ric Flair walking down to the ring in his glamorous robes to the 2001 Space Odyssey theme left an impression.

Ooh, what riveting and shockingly new ideas. Celebrities can be terrible, shallow and self obsessed, god know one's ever made that observation before.

Thank you, North Korea for opening my eyes.

Actually, removing myself from western thought and looking at it all... Jesus it's no wonder people hate the west. It's like living next door to Disney World. Might be fine for the first week, but eventually you just grow sick of seeing tourist passed out on your lawn.
