You know what? No. No, I do not support it.
I'm 99% positive that Eugenics as it stands does nearly NOTHING to the gene pool, as it's a question of recessive genes, mutations, mild cases, etc.
My sister has... something. We really don't know what (it looks like Autism crossed with Aspergers crossed with bipolar), but it sure wouldn't have been fixed by Eugenics. None of the symptoms I mentioned appeared in our direct heritage for at least four generations, so if it was genetic, then Eugenics would have helped nothing, as all my ancestors were healthy, and if it's not, then why should she not be allowed children? (Actually, she has a severe enough case of whatever it is that she actually can't have children, but that's hardly relevant. If she had a milder case, she'd be a great mother.)
Also, everyone acts like mental imperfections are a plague. Well, looks like my Tourette's Syndrome has gotten me on the "No Children" list, if that's the case. Does this have bearing on me as a father? No, my Tourette's is too mild. Has anyone in my direct heritage had obvious symptoms? No. Is it a rare thing? No, about 0.1% of the population has it. Is this bad? No, Tourette's has been known to gift people with ridiculous musical gifts, increased wit, quicker brain function, etc. BUT OMG, IT'S A MENTAL IMPERFECTION! Pfffft. Mental quirks make people interesting.
"But I'm not talking about basic mental quirks and disorders, I'm talking about debilitating diseases and genetic curses!" I don't buy that either. If your disease/mental issues are so bad that it's worth tossing you out of the gene pool, then chances are that you weren't able to have/raise children in the first place.
