A plea for change after the departure of Extra Credits

Extra Credits has gone onto Penny Arcade and the massive shitstorm over the incident has passed. Do we really need more threads about it now? All that's gonna happen is that the people who were jumping down each others' throats in the threads beforehand, are gonna start jumping down each others throats in this thread.

She was their artist. You are overplaying their generosity (and everyone is overplaying the Escapist's role as "big bad" in this.)

And the whole "intelligence and earnestness" thing is just total bullshit. Sorry. This site's been running the most intelligent and earnest gaming articles on the internet since long, long ago. If you were unaware of this, please go and read them.

The Escapist was full of intelligent and creative people before EC and I have faith that it will not change because of this. It's unfortunate they left, I enjoyed the show, but the Escapist still can count on me to come back again and again.

...What? I'm sorry, but what? That was a slap to the face to every single contributor that has ever written an article here, ever. Every single one of them has brought something that was thought provoking and intelligent in each and every article waaaaay before EC arrived here, so I don't know where you are coming from with that, but stop it.

EC brought something in their own right, yes, but they did come off as pretentious and a little preachy, but that's not to say they didn't bring anything worth discussing. But dude, serious?

They're never coming back and they, themselves, have made that fact known. Go to Penny Arcade and watch them there if you feel so strongly about it, and this is not the place to be saying such things.

What the hell do users have to do with this?

The Escapist renigged on it's contractual obligation to PAY them for a year. There were litigations, the contract was found void, now EC is on youtube. Story end of, pending any further legal entanglements.

I fail to see what we, users, could have done. Even the writing staff we interact with had nothing to do with this. This was strictly a head office business level matter, and any blame - if there is any to appropriate- can soley be placed on the EC team and Themis Media.

So what exactly are you pleaing for us to change? Talk to Themis, not us.

Why is it that people just can't leave the escapist in silence they have to make a thread about how bad the escapist is for letting EC leave and that EC is the greatest thing ever and that the escapist wasn't anything before EC graced us with their presence. This makes what 20 threads of people disappointed in the escapist this week.

Now I didn't like Extra Credits and its sad they left like they did but the escapist is still the best gaming website in my opinion and it will take a lot more then this to make me leave.

Wow man, the other contributors to the escapist are all good and you shouldn't really insult them like that especially the ones that were here before Extra Credits.

To those that brought up the other content of this sight, I have to admit, you are right. Though I am not as big of a fan of them as EC, they are still worthy of the medium and I did not intend to back handily insult them.
