Team Fortress 2, for some reason whenever I see it on my game list I silently decline playing it because I'll "regret it" or something. Then I push through that and 9 hours later I realize it's way early in the morning and I should go to bed.

Happened to me with Deus Ex 2. All the bitching and moaning of the retard crowd got to me and I was convinced it was rubbish without even trying it. When I decided to give it a go, I discovered one of the best cyberpunk stories I've ever seen (that includes books). Thief Deadly Shadows as well. Again with the bitching and moaning, "ohhh the previous games are way better, this sucks". After playing it, I consider it the best in the series. Yes, some of the levels are smaller than Thief 2, but that's the extent of it really, Deadly Shadows had a fully fleshed out story instead of the ramblings of the previous games, and it achieved brilliance in its gameplay and mission design so frequently that I couldn't believe it, and has at least a dozen moments that left a permanent impression on my mind.

Halo. I hated FPS games in general at the time, but then my cousin sat me down in front of Halo and made me play through the campaign with him. I liked video games before then, but that was the day gaming and I fell in love, because Halo was the first game I played that told a great story. Thus, the beginning of a long and increasingly satisfying relationship with interactive storytelling.

COD4. I usually buy games when I plan to stay for the series. Not having played 1-3 I was going to give it a miss. I yielded a couple weeks back and went on to finish the campaign on Hardened the day I got it.

Surprised by how good it was. I'd played WAW, but COD4 had many more memorable moments.

Final Fanstasy X

I'd always scorned it and its predecessors without even seeing it, mainly cuz i was anti PS. But then my bro borrowed his mats PS2 with FFX and I sat down with it while no one was looking. And was barely seen for a month. Since then Ive become an avid fan of JRPGS and try to collect em, I even own a PS2 (well its the mrs') now!

Idiotic stance to have in the first oplace I suppose but Ive only enjoyed a few other games as much as that, one being Deus Ex, which was mentioned above.

The most recent occurrence of this for me was Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. I had heard so many negative comments about it that I was turned off, even a little saddened because it was made by Naught Dog. I love ND and didn't want to see them circle the drain with some crappy jungles stomping game. I finally picked it up and found it to be pretty awesome.

Do you own a new generation console yet? If not, when choosing, go with the 360. We're living in strange times where Microsoft are leading the way in JRPG acquisition.

Blaz Blue.
Didnt really think id enjoy the game, but its much better than most fighting games these days due to how you cant really spam or be cheap in it, only a few character problems to a extent.

I know I will probably get yelled at for this... but Portal...

I grabbed the Orange Box for Half-Life, and didn't touch Portal at all. The concept didn't interest me. Once I started though, I played it all the way through to the end in one sitting and then promptly did it again :).

Yeah I own a '60 and every one of my games on it is an RPG or JRPG =P Enjoying Blue Dragon atm as the thing decided to eat my disc 3 of Lost Odyssey and leave a nice big gouge in it. It's done it to Fallout 3 too bastard thing. Gonna get in touch with MickySoft and see about gettin em sorted if possible. Got a load of JRPGs to pick up atm, just tryin to work thru the backlog ive already got. What did u make of Last Remnant?

Deus Ex for me. I'm not a fan FPSs, but I am a fan of RPGs, so I picked this one up and then avoided playing it for about 6 months until I got bored, installed it, and enjoyed it. I won't count it as one of the greatest games ever, and I'm still not a huge fan of the combat, but the story was engrossing and the characters engaging and it's still one of the few games that did moral choice well.

Closest thing would be Digimon Digital Card Battle or Monster Rancher 2, both in PS1. I was simply a little interested in knowing the Monster Rancher monsters as well as Digimon, but I enjoyed both games. They're fun.

I'm halfway through Last Remnant. I recently lent it to my cousin, so I'll complete it when I get back off him. I found the game buggy, but the gameplay and exploration enjoyable, if nor random at times. It was annoying to not choose specific actions, especially spells, but after a while you can predict what the units will do anyway.

Since a great part of my RPG enjoyment stems from side quests, this game had me satisfied in that regard. It was great doing them along the way. It pissed me off though when I discovered I'd forgotten to do one sq after beating disc 1.

Ever played Infinite Undiscovery? The game has some of the lamest sq ever, just a lot of fetching for mediocre rewards.

I found once loaded to the HD on the 360 eased the laggin issue and made it run smoother, but yeah I felt pretty much the same. To start with the combat idea was great, but it soon got a little stale and predictable. The collasseum/arean thing was pretty cool tho.

Im big into books and just storytelllin in general so Im more interested in that side off things in these games, a lot of side quests annoy me, but Blitzball was pretty cool =P

Not played it, but its on the list, along with eternal sonata.

Oh if u have a DS, pick up Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, pretty sweet game, especially if uve played its predecessors.
