Ok so yeah I created this thread because I have a question that always perplexed me; one is, if you see in the movie Destiny Deoxys or in countless others, they eat hot dogs and hamburgers. And...you need cows and pigs for that correct? But I never thought Pokemon COULD die; only FAINT. So yeah how do they work that whole hot dog/hamburger thing when pigs and cows(don't say Miltank and Spoink) exist!

So I ask you, members of the Escapist who are Poke-fans or not, how the hell do YOU think they come about getting hot dogs and hamburgers!?

Well, a few Pokemon have been confirmed to have been eaten, Slowpoke is the first one that comes to mind. It also seems in the Pokemon world that they do have real animals, there have been fish shown before as an example.

Maybe it's all synthetic meat?

Erm, Pokemon can die. A thread similar to this was made the other day. *points towards the Pokemon Graveyard and the Fossil Pokemon*.

So yeah, they are eating Pokemon. Probably.

Wasm't all the food rice balls in the japanese version? Probably just something lost in translation as the Westernised it.

I Hope so, I'd imagine PokéAbbitoirs are depressing places.

Maybe they eat Pokemon? Also, not all animals are Pokemon(humans).

to think about details in the anime stuff is pointless. it's an inconsistent mess

as for in the games it's feasible that fainting only occurs in battle and junk and that killing them is perfectly doable by say.... breaking the neck of a bird pokemon or something.

or they all just drink soda pops and moo moo milks.

Clearly, it's all farmed meat - grown in a petri dish. The level of technology demonstrated (pokeballs etc.) indicates that they are far more advanced than us and makes farmed meat likely. Yay for over-analysing things.

In the Anime, they referanced to eating Magikarps in Season 1.

I'd imagine that as the Pokemon replaced the animals, then they would eat the Pokemon.

Pokemon do die, It's just they never beat each other to death. even though the Pokemon attack each other with many attacks that would kill any normal creature.

Yay!My useless bonus points are at 2000!

Farfetch'D was almost eaten to extinction.

This question means you have never played the games with even one brain cell active.

In the show, they make the magikarp reference.

In episode 1 of pokemon, I'm pretty sure a girl in Pallet town has a pet dog. So therefore real animals exist.

I'd guess that shooting a Miltank in the head would kill it. Sure, there was that Japan only episode in the Safari Zone that was pulled from the West because guns were a major part of it. They didn't bring guns to make Pokémon faint.
I would say they'd be more likely to eat Taurus anyway. Just seem like good steaks would come from them. I'd eat one.

Well pokemon are the equivalent to real animals in their world.
and pokemon can die, other wise there wouldn't be a tower dedicated to the graves of pokemon im plat.

When a pokemon faints its just tired, they battle until they are to tired to continue.
And many of the pokemon have been confirmed as being eaten in the games.
