So i'm a huge fan of the pokemon series and there is one question thats always annoyed me, when you beat the pokemon league and beat the champion and you become the champion...why does that other champion stay there anyway? i understand why gamefreak did that, to have this superior pokemon trainer for you to keep battling against, but im looking for a reason in terms of story.

And a second question to keep this thread interesting, what would you like to see introduced into generation 6? i personally hope the next generation is on 3DS and it takes place in a 3D game world, like the way pokemon colleseum looked. Give me that, and ill be happy!

My guess is they just compromised logic for replayability, or maybe your character is just too busy catching all the Pokemon to sit around being the champion? Seems like a reasonable explanation to me.

What I want in generation 6 is for HMs to become a tool that you can use rather than a move you have to teach to a Pokemon. Pokemon have precious few move slots and the HMs generally aren't useful in a serious build. Additionally it forces you to take with you Pokemon that you wouldn't normally use just because they can learn the HMs. The ability to join the bad guys and follow an evil storyline would be extremely awesome too.

In Gen 6 I'd like the ability to customize my own character, and be able to have my Pokemon follow me round again.

Anyway, I think it's just there for gameplay purposes

Because if the story after you'd beat them was "You are the champion! Sit here and wait for random NPC challengers!", it may get rather boring.

And in Gen 6, I'd like to see a fully fledged 3DS Pokemon game.

I can assume the whole "letting them come to you" would be quite boring as you will be waiting all day. I suppose it would be cool to design your own gym/ room in the championship building.

I would love for Gen6 to reintroduce back the whole "going to another region after you beat the elite 4" like Gold and Silver.

I want to see gen 6 incorporate all of the regions. 3DS cartridges should be large enough to do it, what with being 4+ times the size of a DS card. An epic journey spanning each of the leagues would be amazing.

I wondered why the previous champion gets to stay there as well. I would think that you are offered the rank of champion and decide to not keep it because you still want to continue traveling. I think that's the only reason in terms of story.

Okay, so in Gen 6 I would like:
-As little to do with Gen 5 as possible, such as: no regional Pokemon, no connection or story that leads back to Gen 5, and more Triple/Rotation battles.
-A better roster of Pokemon. Yes, this will always be suggestive, but to have 4 Gens of great Pokemon and a big dip in the 5th Gen is a real shame. Let's put a little more effort next time, Game Freak.
-A new Pokemon type. Probably a long shot, but it could make things interesting.
-Return of third installments.
-Cleaner Pokemon animations or just good Pokemon portraits.
-Make the move to the 3DS. Not even for the 3D, but just continue to a new handheld. The 3DS isn't going to get any better in terms of software if no one has a reason to play it.

I actually loved gen 5 with white being my favorite pokemon game of all time, i agree that most of the pokemon were preety bad but it was a massive improvement from gen 3 and 4, i dispise everything about gen 3, the pokemon were poor and the overworld was just so boring imo, only good thing about gen 3 was leaf green and fire red. Although im probably being biased as lilipup and its evolutions are my favorite pokemon in the entire series.

The story for white was actually preety good and not just for a pokemon game, it did a great job of questioning the actual ethics of capturing pokemon and everything.

I think having black 2 and white 2 be proper sequels to the first game is a great idea, granted i did think that theyd be making grey so i sold my copy of white and i have to buy it back now for the save file transfer thing, but i love theyre mixing things up!

As for the new type of pokemon...i agree...alot...that could make battles a lot more exciting with this new type of pokemon thrown in!

It's 'last boss reset' syndrome. Notice how the Elite 4 treat you like a newcomer each time you visit them to grind (at least in all the ones I've played). After you achieve your goal of becoming that region's champion, things reset back to before the final battle except you keep the XP, money, and Hall of Fame records. Just like how other RPGs put you back at the last save point after you beat the game. Because if they didn't, you'd be forced to stay there and defend your title instead of hunting for more Pokemon, and where's the fun in that?

For Gen 6, I previously suggested having Gym leaders level up after you progress past them, and able to have rematches with you at any time just like the Elite 4. You would get a better type-related reward for each 'tier' of a Gym leader's strength, along with 9 or so other type-focused trainers who do that too so the other Types don't get left out.

Besides that, allow the player to decide on single or dual battles whenever they battle any other trainer. Provide better ways of grinding past 60 late-game, and eliminate the annoying hazards of learning HM moves just so you can get past obstacles by making them replaceable, and TMs reusable.

As for the general request for more interesting Pokemon, I have a few basic ideas, just simple names and descriptive types really:

Budang - Explosive Plant, Grass/Fire (Evolves into Budigbang after having used Selfdestruct 20 times)
Gralibur - Diamond Blade, Steel/Dark
Thwisp - Lantern Spirit, Ghost
Tracap - Flytrap, Grass
Sootie - Foxfire, Fire
Sygote - Twin Cell, Water
Slimodo - Sludge Dragon, Dragon/Poison
Dokadent - Elder Tree, Grass
Bargabras - Iron Knight, Steel

A proper game connected to the wii to battle in 3D with other players.

You know, Pokemon stadium, with proper online fuctions.

Train and capture them on the (3)DS.
Battle on the wii.

I like to think that after I beat him, I told him that I still have work to do, protecting the region. That if you would be a knight of my rule, and test great trainers, kind of turn it into a job, while I go out and play the hero. It's a respectable job, that he was only to happy to accept. And we have a beer now and then, telling stories of great trainers and hilariously bad trainers we fought.

If you enjoyed Gen 5, then more power to you. I just didn't and I want to move on. Also, I was not aware of a save file transfer. How does that work?

I think the better question is why the hell you have to beat five guys when they called the 'Elite 4'. There have never been 4 of them, always 5. Anyways, I assume that champion is more like a hired position then just the best guy. I assume that there are lots of guys who can beat the elite 4 but they don't make the new guy the champion every time, they just say 'congrats' and keep the current guy. Deciding the champion could be an entirely different event.

Anywho, I've always thought forcing people to use one of there Pokemon's 4 move slots in order to use an HM was dumb. Why not have it so HMs can be used without having to teach them to a Pokemon or something?

I'd suggest to read the Pokemon Adventures manga someday. There it all does make more sense (the inventor of Pokemon himself suggests that every Pokemon fan should read this manga because there they created the kind of world they wanted to create but couldn't due to limitations [be it technical or from Nintendo themselfs]).

The Pokemon league is completely seperate from the Elite 4 and goes like a traditional tournament (like the upcoming tournament feature in Black 2 / White 2).
The Elite 4 are just a group of 4 of the strongest trainers in the region who have actually a goal they work for.

I hope that someday they adapt more ideas from the manga. I'd really like to see a traditional tournament as the final challenge before facing off the champion. It would challenge my skills a little more than just reading up on the movesets of the Elite 4.
Meh. I don't care enough to do that. Pokemon is a fun game but I'm not diving into something like a manga series unless I'm really interested in something. It'd be interesting to hear technical talk about game development though.

For 6 gen, I'd want any one or more of:

-A full 3D game with good multiplayer stuff similar to colosseum or XD: gale of darkness.
-A complete reboot of the series. None of the pokemon and such would be useable in the new game. This would be a good place for newcomers to join the series.
-The usual tweeks and stuff
