i created this thread purely to give this video a chance to reach out side our fandom. its a thing of beauty, and deserves to be viewed by more the just bronies.

hehe, was talking about putting the core values into practice globally, not turning the real world into Equestria (and since Derpy doesn't really do anything 'cept 'be there' as a wheres waldo game, Pinkie Pie)

So I saw one episode of the ponies on a plane from Hong Kong a few days ago. It was something about two tickets to some kind of Galloping Gala and the meaning of friendship, I forget the name of the episode.

I was totally underwhelmed and didn't understand how the show is this popular. Was that one of the weaker episodes or do I just not get it?

Maybe being in the gaming section IS the key difference! It's like a secret mind blowing that you really have to be on the look out for.

Well yes, but essentially the core values are what various people have been telling us for millennia. From Jesus Christ himself to Bill and Teds epic value 'Be Excellent to each other'
Anyway, who wouldn't want to live in a technicolour world where the laws of physics barely apply.
Oh, and i totally agree, Pinkie Pie is nuts. Especially when she goes off the rails and makes up her new imaginary friends XD

What if your friends are failures too? Hehe. I don't get all this pony and brony stuff. This video won't really appeal to non-MLP fans. I checked out the show when it blew up as an animation fan and I found a show with a unique aesthetic but shallow writing and heavy on the camp. This video seems to be trying too hard to be deep. Some of the 1 liners are wrong too. "Without generosity there can be no compassion" is the worst offender. Isn't compassion the reason someone would be generous and not the other way around? Unless you mean to say you should only care for someone if they give you stuff.

You might consider changing it to a build up. Like "Without honesty there can be no trust" then "Without trust there can be no friendship" and then without "Friendship there can be no magic". That is if you are wanting to end it with the "friendship is magic" line. That is a crude example but you should see where I am going. By leading them all into 1 collective idea, the flow of the montage is a little more powerful and structured.

As an animation fan, I think MLP is just a fad like slap bands and NSync. I have two nieces. I have seen a lot of episodes. You probably saw a regular one. There is nothing particularly special about the show as far as I can tell. This is just coming from another guy scratching his head over this craze.

No, you're jumping to conclusions, the video said nothing about you being a failure unless you have friends, the message is if you have friends you can hardly be considered a failure. They are very different things.
