I don't particularly like beer, but I can get by fine. If you want to start drinking beer, go for some light coloured beer and not straight to the dark ale. You'll find your comfort zone soon enough
I have the same problem. Beer tastes like horse urine to metriggrhappy94 said:So, like many not-manly men, I'm cursed with the inability to get past the taste of beer. I've never made it past half a bottle on my own. I'm normally able to take a good first drink, but after that the taste limits me to just sips at a time. Between me and friends, we normally just have beer.
Any suggestion on how to get past the taste, or condition myself to like.
If you feel the need to drink to feel "manly", maybe drinking isn't for you.triggrhappy94 said:So, like many not-manly men, I'm cursed with the inability to get past the taste of beer. I have the same problem. It doesn't bother me so much. At the very least I won't be pissing my money up against the wall and suffer the armageddon-like hangovers. I'd rather drink something that tastes nice - like J2O orange and mango! REPRESENT!triggrhappy94 said:So, like many not-manly men, I'm cursed with the inability to get past the taste of beer. There is nothing not-manly about not liking beer, it's just the drink most associated with chilling, and it's manly to chill with a pint.triggrhappy94 said:So, like many not-manly men, I'm cursed with the inability to get past the taste of beer. Stella Artois is fantastic. I have the exact opposite thing to the OP. I haven't found a lager I don't like. In my life, I've had Stella, Carling, Carlsberg, Brahma's, and some unknown "french" lager from Morrison's (we were keeping the drinks outdoors cool by submerging them in cold water during a party, and the labels fell off, so I never found out what I was drinking.)Layz92 said:My advice if you are keen and really want to like beer rather than going for something else is to try some variety. Different brands have different tastes. For example (Australian here) I can not drink XXXX, so horrible (like making love in a canoe some might say) but I quite like Tooheys Extra Dry Platinums. There is a great variety between how bitter and how strong the flavour is. Stella Artois for example has a slightly unusual flavour, Guiness and Stouts are a much more different experience. So yeah, go for some variety, don't try to choke down what you don't like.
I would suggest you to drink out of glasses, so you can drink faster, or out of a beerbong(google it) if you want the more radical decision. So grow a pair and drink!triggrhappy94 said:So, like many not-manly men, I'm cursed with the inability to get past the taste of beer. I've never made it past half a bottle on my own. psh, I'm sixteen and I can get good beer from at least half of my friends if I wanted to (not to mention my dad has some in his fridge, and offers me sips of new brands/flavours to prevent me from liking beer XD)lithium.jelly said:Or, possibly, stop drinking it until you're old enough. According to your profile, you're only sixteen. Besides, at that age I seriously doubt you can get your hands on any kind of good beer, and are forced to make do with shite that tastes like it's already been drunk once. There is a world of difference between good and bad beers.
You shouldn't pay too much heed to whispers, they're often greatly exaggerated half-truths.ReservoirAngel said:Drink other stuff. There are many alcoholic beverages that taste awesome and will get you more pissed than beer ever could. For example, try downing a ton of Jagerbombs. That's Red Bull with a shot of Jagermeister. Tastes amazing and a handful or so of them will get you more drunk than 10 pints of any generic beer ever will.
Or, and I've only heard of this through whispered tales in the corners of taverns: The Snakebite and Black. I have no idea if its a real drink or not, but apparently its so tasty but SO heavily alcoholic that a lot of places in the UK don't even serve it because people drink too many and end up with alcohol poisoning.
