A PS Vita Dilemma

I know that a lot of people are down on the Vita.

Initial sales of the Vita are poor, the memory cards are overpriced, and now it seems the already limited backwards combatability doesn't sound like it will be making it to the states, but I still can't help but want one.

I still see a lot of potential in the Vita. I like what they have done on the hardware side and the potential for cross-play functions, simultaneous PS3/Vita PSN(or SEN or whatever its called now) releases, and just quality games. I enjoy my ASUS tablet but I don't feel like it is something that I will look to for the kind of gaming experience I want on extended trips or even just in a comfy chair at home.

So I would like to pick one up at launch, but the steep memory cost on top of the 250(which I feel is fair, its just the card on top of it.) in addition to intial poor sales make me warry of a PSP repeat. So anyone else feel torn? I want to pick it up to support them so that it DOESN'T have as rocky as it did in Japan. That said I also want want to wait on possible price drops on the memory cards and more games(despite the fairly solid launch lineup).

Anyone else in the same boat?

I was mildly interested, but their pricing decisions are so poor that I can't just support them, y'know? Memory cards, games' prices, so many integrated gizmos, etc. And will it also have a special USB port too? I just can't be bothered. So I bought a PSP 3000 recently and that's good enough for me. I feel a bit ripped off because of the WPA2 and the memory thing, but at least I know I can play all those retro games.

If you decide to get the Vita, I hope the Wifi on it is better than the PSP's. I almost regret buying it because of that sad excuse for connectivity.

Which Vita memory card is 99$ again? 32 GB or something? Yeah. I like that it has a big screen, though.

I'm buying a Vita this year, I'm actually quite excited by it, from what I hear it can be used like the PSP in controlling a PS3 so its a beefed up Wii U and I have the choice to use it instead of being forced to use it.

$250 for the thing itself, another $50 for memory, plus $50 a game...tough sell.

I kind of want one, but it's a totally irrational want. There's no way to justify it unless you make a lot of money or just can't live without one of the exclusives.

The Vita is tragic really, It looks like an amazing bit of kit and interests far more than the 3DS ever could, but with the price (Which will drop) and the whole memory card thing its like Sony don't actually want people to buy one.

I really wish Vita games could be played on PS3, but slow down Keyboard cowboy. I know that means that no one would buy a Vita! but a guy can dream.

I really liked my PsP, mostly couse it was patched, so I could do all the things my iphone can do today. The games were not bad either.

However, vita doesn't look much better than the original psp in functionality. Prettier and bigger games, ofcourse, but for that we will need bigger and more expensive memory cards.

Pretty much this ^^

Sure, I'd like to get Rayman Origins for it, I'm sure it'd be a great system to play it on, or I could get it 10 bucks cheaper on PC and get Rayman 3 for free with it.

I'd like the Disgaea 3 update, but I already beat the stuffing out of the PS3 version, and I could use the money to buy Disgaea 4 instead.

None of the launch games look even sort-of appealing to me, and when it will even be able to play PS1 games off the store, who knows...

Oh yeah, and the memory is still overpriced as what. Why do I still want one?
