Would it be possible/useful to put the newer games into the engine of the older games and the older ones into the engine of the newer games.
I think that Fallout series is good the way it is. Great things aren't supposed to please each and everyone out there. :)

BTW : I love every part of series, with the exception of NV which i find very boring. Even Tactics/BoS is better in my opinion. I'd like to see NV redone in old engine with isometric graphics and turn-based battles.

They shouldn't remake the old or the new games with the different engines. Just play them all because they are great. Except BOS nobody should ever play that POS.

The engines for the new Fallout's just aren't very good. Bethesda's Gamebyro engine is pretty unstable and even with the Skyrim engine, it still isn't great. I suppose you really could translate Fallout 1/2 into a game like New Vegas, or vice-versa, but why would you want to do that? The games are fine as they are, and bringing them into 3D would make a lot of things that made those particular games great disappear.

That being said, I love pretty much every game in the series except for Brotherhood of Steel. Even Fallout 3, because even though it had a really rather stupid plot, it was a fun game to play and had a nice, big atmospheric world to explore.

Actually, Fallout 3 is more of the odd one out. If you love it, it seems you're more likely to hate New Vegas and the originals. The reason being that Fallout 3 doesn't have the same spirit and does things with the lore that are either inconsistent or just plain dumb. New Vegas is very much in the spirit of the originals and respects the old lore.
just because somone loves one thing doesnt mean they automatically hate another thing thats slightly different

Hey! I enjoyed both New Vegas and Fallout 3. And the first two. Kinda.
I should have expanded on the "more likely" part some more. I didn't mean that no one can like all the games. It's just that when you do see that, their opinion on Fallout 3 is usually the most telling variable. You see more people who love Fallout 3 hating New Vegas and the older games. You see more people who hate Fallout 3 loving pretty much the entire rest of the series.

I have played, and loved all of the games. I thought 3 was awesome (though melee/unarmed characters could be quite challenging), I loved New Vegas.

I have pissed away hundreds of hours of my life into those games, and as far as videogame hours go, I consider them time well spent.

I was actually quite the opposite dood. I loved Fallout 3 but couldn't really get into New Vegas. That might be because I'm not a rabid fan of the originals but what can I say? I liked what I liked dood.

If they remake the first two, putting them in the first person shooter format will not work. They should do what they were planning with Van Buren: 3D world, isometric, with a choice between V.A.T.S and Real Time.

The graphics wouldn't need to be as detailed as New Vegas or 3, allowing for bigger worlds. The isometric camera would also allow them to hide certain textures that would need to be rendered otherwise.
