Fair point, yet in todays media it is far less violent from other products on the market, hence why many gamers would agree with my question "how is halo violent?"
There is a distinction between 'less violent' and 'not violent.' The idea is saavy about what you're playing. I am not insinuating there's a problem with playing Halo, far from it. Not at all. The problem is when one ceases to recognize that the activities depicted are not, in fact, violent activities. Understanding the media is key.
Now, i am assuming you don't have a degree in psychology, where did that far out claim come from? I, and many other users, know it is a game. We do not run about screaming for ammo, so why assume we would do - Too right it is anti-social!
I do not disagree with this either. -I- play violent videogames, and I -know- violence outside that context is heavily anti-social. I have the context of knowing where the stand between entertainment and reality stands. The problem is when that line blurs for certain people.
I'm not insinuating either that video games have made them this way. I'm of the opinion that those people already -have- problems, and such could be recognized during childhood or adolescence. I feel that such individuals who cannot make such distinctions should be treated accordingly, should -not- be playing video games that trigger them, and should be parented so that they can grow up in a manner that they do not -have- this form of autism.
The problem here is people like you who have not realised that playing this genre of game will not give us a "problem". The problem here is people like you looking down and thinking people are incapable of social understanding!
Not at all. I think the problem lies from people who lack social understanding coming into contact with 'violent' media, rather than 'violent' media making them lack social understanding.
The solution is not to dissolve violent media, but for parents to -do their job- in parenting these problem children.
I also believe that sheltering children from the harder realities of the world is not the way to go either. I believe that children should be allowed to make mistakes, explore, and occasionally get hurt. That's how a kid learns.
Again, I believe in -parenting- as the solution to the problems, rather than blaming media, be they video games or otherwise. I'm not into censorship, far from it. I believe that responsibility should be in the hands of people, otherwise artistic and political freedom becomes jeopardized.
