hey guys i didn't really know where to ask this so i decided to ask the trusty escapist users to help me out. So here is my question, after cataclysm comes out will it be added on to the main wow disks or will i still have to buy cataclysm and the main disks.

You had to pay for every other expansion didn't you?

There will be a patch that'll change Azeroth and you won't have to buy cataclysm to play it. But you'll have to buy the expansion to play the new races and areas and to reach 85.

You have to buy the expansion seperately unless you get a bundle or something. Doesn't mean you won't be able to play the game if you just get vanilla WoW, though. There will just be a lot you can't access.

EDIT: Bah, ninja'd again.

Not evil. The term is 'Soul sucking'.
Saying that i'm renewing my WoW account and updating it as we speak, to prepare for the new expansion.

The weird thing about Cataclysm is that it changes the very look and feel of the game by way of terrain being changed and and new life being formed. etc. etc. The problem I see with this is that people who don't have the expansion won't have these changes. I'm yet to see how this will work in the game because in the previous expansions it added a new place for people to go, not really disturbing the mainland. whereas this on changes things as i said b4.

Does this mean if you wont be able to interact with people who don't have the expansion?

Oh! and goblins. pfft! There are already goblins in WOW, but now they are just playable and not NPC's. So that is kinda cheap for someone like me who plays HORDE! :p

You'll have to pay for the other expansions. ALTHOUGH they do update the retail discs. For example if you go buy the new WoTLK bundles you'll get a vanilla WoW disc and a WoTLK disc. But the WoTLK disc contains the Burning Crusade data as well.

It works the same way if you download the xpacs from Blizzard directly. You can download vanilla WoW, skip Burning Crusade, (but you still have to pay for it) download WoTLK, patch and you'll be good to go.

If anything just to make your life easier, I'd reccomend buying only vanilla WoW in disc form form a retailer. Then just pay to upgrade your account to WoTLK (or Cataclysm) status and proceed to download them from Blizzard. Each xpac is only a couple gigs and Blizzards launcher runs pretty quickly so you'll have em in no time.

Cataclysm will be it's own disk, and you'll have to get the others as well, or you could download the fils from blizzard, but htat takes forever, unless your connection is INSANE
