Hello, fellow Escapists. For a few years now, I have been planning on joining the Airforce after college, but have run into a bit of a snag. Secifically, I was just diagnosed with diabetes. It is most likely type 2, but I am still waiting on test results.

I had wanted to join because of the schooling and job oppertunities available. I am not interested in a combat position, but rather am interested in history and anthropology (people and society, essentially).

MY problem is tha tI am not sure if the Us Airforce will accept you if you have diabetes. I hear conflicitng accounts all over, and was wondering if anybody can give me some more detailed information.

It depends on the severity. I have a mild form of genetic anemia and was able to join the Navy, and as I've since learned, the Air Force is practically useless and most of what they do is sitting around pretending like they are actual soldiers. They only run ONE MILE for their fitness test! What a joke!

I'm kidding... somewhat.

Well, as i stated, I'm not in it to become a soldier. I want to benefit the country in other ways. for ever soldier you need the people that work behind the scenes. This is not be trying to be lazy, it is what I want to do.

As for the insulin, it does not have ot be refirdgerated constantly, only until it is opened. After that, you can leave it out.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I'll talk to a recruiter once I know more about the type.
