I'm probably not gonna watch it. But a huge majority of my friends are going to, even if it means they wont get any sleep tonight :)
Welcome to the Escapist!

Anyway OT: No, no one in Australian could care less about American football, instead we'll keep making 'stupid Americans' jokes, might as well be our pastime considering...

Well to be perfectly frank, down here in Australia we all kinda think superball is a stupid sport for wimps who wont play a contact sport without wearing more armour than a tank (i mean really how much do you need???). That being said the two most popular Australian sports is AFL (Australian Rules Football) and Cricket. One being a game that Americans have no interest in mainly cos your shit at it(no thats not an insult, because ITS TRUE, your just crap at cricket) and the second being the only sport in the world where you get points for MISSING the goal....

The only sport where that amount of armour is acceptable is full-contact simulated combat.
Hell, even most simulated combat uses heavy canvas at most, and shorts at best.

Also: I'd rather be gaming.

I don't really care much for major sporting events. Even the Olympics or Commonwealth games bores me.

No...I don´t even think it airs here. (Germany)
Other then that, I don´t like american football all that much...british rugby is more brutal and "soccer" is less complex, 22 dudes, a ball, two goals, GO!...
Sure there is a shitload of rules, but you don´t have to know all of it to know what is going on.

But I´m not a huge sportsfan myself anyway, watched the world cup for pure patriotism (Suck it, UK! We steamrolled your asses XD *no offence), but aside from irregular following of formular one, I don´t care about sports broadcasts much.

Good lord no, sorry but american football is just sooooooo boring for me. I'm a big sports fan (especially soccer, Australian football, cricket and tennis) but gridiron makes me zzzzzzzz...

well, i'm german and - what a surprise - also live in germany, and all i can say is that neither me nor anyone i know has any interest in the superbowl. of course, there may be people living here that do, but not very many...

but i guess it's always like that regarding the main sports in other countrys. as far as i know, most americans don't like soccer, and don't care about it. i mean, it was even parodied (is that a word? hm, whatever.) in the simpsons, where soccer was portrayed as slow and boring. which it isn't... ^^

The BBC seem to be pushing the SB for some reason - I myself prefer rugby (go go six nations!).
Huzzah! I only watch bits of american football because the players look so silly. No offense.

Are any of you planning on watching the Super Bowl? Do you care at all?
No to both of your questions. I am however watching the Six Nations (Rugby, IMHO a game that requires more physical and tactical strength than American Football, and flows better overall).

If you don't know, the six are Scotland (my country), England, Ireland, Wales, France and Italy.

Alba gu brath!

I didn't even know they were showing it here in Blighty. But if the BBC are showing it, I probably won't watch it in any case. But while I may not like (if I may be cheeky...) Handegg, I shall be rather grateful to it for teaching me how to multiplay by 7. (I used to own an American Football game back in '88/'89.)

I neither like American Football, nor care for the Super Bowl (so guess, and besides, it sounds like they're playing for some oversized cereal crockery).

American Football is a hideous misnomer... just how many times does the 'ball' come into contact with a 'foot', and Americans call real football 'soccer'. Anyway, true there is a plethora of tactics, but the game is broken up so much it just doesn't seem exciting enough. Rugby Union FTW. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it does seem a bit too much effort just to have 19 weeks of sport? Really should have more pro-teams, or am I not getting something about American Football?

@struwwelman - sorry about the Paris match, mate, though you guys have a pretty decent team, hoping for a top-half finish?
