a question for people outside of north america

I actually like American tourists. Most of them I've met are hugely ignorant of Irish culture but are honestly interested and love learning more. Things I think are mundane and take for granted thrill them. What's the point of being a tourist if you already know everything about where you're visiting? It's that honest desire to know more and the fact that any American tourist I've met approaches tourism with enthusiasm that makes me like them.

Ireland is fascinating. It is about as an exotic place of mystery and legend you can get without having to learn a new language.

Exactly, all of the mystery but delivered in English, because we hd the good sense to be invaded.

But that's what I'm talking about, to me Ireland is just home. I live in an urban area, just like most of the developed world. To me it doesn't seem that special, then tourists come over and remind me there's lots of interesting stuff about this country.

lol, good sense to be invaded. Same thing though, here when I have people from out of town, I am more likely to go to the culturally relevant things in town. Though one summer me and my friend made a conscience effort to do all those things that you only do as a tourist around town and had a ton of fun.
