And if my desire was that no one would dies once the button was pressed? Would the button explode? If not then yes I would press it. Loopholes FTW. If that did work then the button would allow me to ave a meeting with someone I could date. Not force someone to like me but allow things to happen so we meet. I have a rule... You don't get to decide if a person lives or dies unless you'd be prepared to look them in the eye and kill them yourself.

So if I couldn't execute 5 innocent people for all the money and security I could want with my own hands then I couldn't just press a button and make it happen somewhere where I couldn't see it either.

I was talking about respective for life not the button, also you jump to conclusions that my life goals are selfish, however my goals in life are to bring joy to many by being a games designer, furthermore the money and such I gain can be used to save more life then were used for the buttons powers.

Interesting question. Though as an aside if you work and become successful as described in the OP by your own, non button related, means you'll probably end up being indirectly responsible for the deaths of at least 5 people anyway. Maybe your successful company that changes the Market and the world we live in causes people to lose their jobs, and ultimately kill themselves, or the product you invent (say a personal electric blimp for commuters) causes a death, or a workplace accident. You'll probably not know these people or even be aware of their deaths.

So my reasoning is sure. It's a lot more efficient, and saves the hard work.

Well, if my "every whim" can include an end to world hunger, or if I can use some of my newly obtained wealth to save lots of lives, then sure.

Otherwise, no, I don't think so. It just wouldn't be worth the guilt, I can afford most things I want as it is, and I don't need 5 innocent peoples' deaths on my conscience for the rest of my life.

I'm against the killing of a few to save many, but if it would allow the world to be fixed, then I'd sure as hell at least contemplate it.
I would make sure to visit those families and take responsibility for what I did, if I did it.

And even if that never happens, you'll always know that no matter how rich or powerful you are, there was some guy that gave it to you who is even more powerful.

Just because you say something doesn't make it true, also you see reluctant to look at other perspectives in this situation.

I think that you need to edit that to 'every selfish whim'... else it just brings in a different sort of moral dilemma with 'needs of the many against the needs of the few'.

As for whether I'd press it, it's obviously wrong to: even from an objective standpoint 5 lives may very well outweigh 1 'perfect' life. From my own perspective I'd call it wrong (to put it lightly) to trade a single life for my own perfect one.
So, Evil, but would I do it? That depends on how sane I am at the time! At present, No.
