So im watching Star Wars, and this question has just popped into my head, How the f**k does the Death Star it actually move?!

I havent seen any jets sticking out of it and i dont really think gravitational attraction counts.

The Death Star moved, it certainly wasn't built around Alderaan. It obviously has some kind of engine as it has exhaust ports, and as they're only 2 metres wide i would say that whatever they process would have to be massively efficiant, so lets say it's something like Antihydrogen atoms.

Well, it could have exhaust just from running life support and such. That said, we know it moves because Yavin and Alderaan aren't anywhere near each other.

I believe I heard it's been theorized theorized that it would have used several Ion engines, that propel ionized material as a propellant system (I forget the specifics, I saw the article a while ago). It would be extremely slow, but seeing as how the TIE fighters are stated as using two of them (TIE = Twin Ion Engine), it means that the Empire already uses the technology effectively, so it would make sense that the Death Star would use it as well.
