After the merger of 3DS and Wii U profiles, I've found myself in the nice position of being able to bolster my digital library somewhat! I like how Nintendo is doing weekly character-based sales so my original plan was to wait until (fingers crossed) Mega Man became a sale-character. He's in Smash now after all so ya never know.

Then, while looking through the e-Shop, I came across a few titles that I'm just not sure about. The first is Liberation Maiden, which looks like a flighty, shooty, mech/fighter jet thing. It's on sale until the 2nd of January and was made (in part) by Suda 51...but I'm still on the fence about it...

Other than that are two other titles which caught my eye: Sakura Samurai and, Steamworld Dig. A normal person would have likely bought all three by now (I think I can afford to do that anyway...) but I'm somewhat neurotic about spending and would like some further insights about those three games and, speculation on whether or not Mega Man games will go on sale or if I should just bite the bullet and get an e-Shop card specifically for those.

I heard all three of these games are really good.

Especially Liberation Maiden.

I'm probably going to pick it up eventually because I'm a sucker for sincere developers talking enthusiastically about their product, and that man looked like he really wanted us to try out his game.

Three eShop games you should look into...

Crimson Shroud
Senran Kagura Burst
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies

Whatever you do, just don't buy The Starship Damrey. I regret buying that one. A good idea, but shoddy in execution.

I got Liberation Maiden. It is indeed fun. Also it was made by Suda 51 if that helps interest you, Although it is probably the most tame thing he has made. Not one inappropriate or odd bit of whackyness. Well at least the gameplay is solid.

Also the game is really short. Only 5 levels.

Other recommendations

Pushmo (Puzzle game)
Crashmo (Have some more puzzles)
Mario and Donkey Kong Minis on the Move (MORE PUZZLES)
Cave Story (Action Platformer, also the game I recommend most cause this port is fantastic.)
Gunman Clive (Action Platformer)
VVVVVV (Puzzle Platformer)
Pokemon Dream Rader (AR game, ONLY if you have Pokemon Black/White 2)
Crimson Shroud (RPG)

I downloaded Steamworld Dig and really enjoyed it. It appealed to the Metroid lover in me, and there was something cathartic about drilling/pick-axing through lots of rocks and collecting the gems/metals, then upgrading myself over and over.

The story-side could have been a little deeper in my opinion, but overall I'd say it's worth the buy. You'll enjoy it!
